Hippie Horde by Spinach_Chicken
Hippie Horde is a fast paced, fun, and short game about surviving a hippie horde that is determined to tear down your steampunk generator, which you built 200 years ago. They believe that this will solve all of the world's environmental problems, and so they steal a time machine and travel back in time to try to tear down your machine. The goal is to shoot the hippies with your cannon before they reach your generator.

but the the game is still good. good graphics and it's fun for a few minutes
In any case very atmospheric
Maybe the player should have more control over the rotation speed or something like that to be more challenging and fun.
Anyway, good job!
Good joke on Tardis + hippies + van.
Wasn't crazy about the mechanics. The lack of control and punishing difficulty made the game super hard and not rewarding enough. Maybe if you added some level of control, maybe a slow motion power, that would make the game a lot more fun.
More difficult than it seems at first! cool concept and very nice graphics, I'd love some animations of the generator being destroyed, though. Also, I feel that if everything moved a little faster(the hippies and the gun alike) the whole thing would be more fun and have a little more replay value. Think about a mobile port, this sort of game could do really well on Android or iOS. Well done!
If I liked the music does that mean I'm hippie?
Uh who am I kidding I listened to Sufjen Stevens before playing this XD
Anyway pretty simple and repetitive game so I guess the gameplay is kinda lacking here but well it was funny and looked pretty well =]
I got 305 on first try :P
Good job!
Cool mechanic with the spinning gun - feels like this could make a very good mobile game, since it's only got one input!
The text dump at the beginning was ridiculous, but funny. The art is nice, though I would have liked even more different kinds of hippies!
The music was kind of bland, but alright.
Overall, a really solid compo game! Great job!
Love the ability to shoot the bird :3
My nitpick: the sounds are too loud compared to music.
(and as already said here, embed seems to be broken)
And why did they have to kidnap the timelord if they stole his time machine?
and the them coming out of the tardis like that.. you get a 10/10 on the humor score from me :)
The mechanics of the game are fun, and do require getting good at timing the shots, the idea of the bonus crows and their location above the enemy line is a very good idea as it makes the movement flow and doesn't stop you from shooting the enemies as you're already above the shooting line.
The art is good for this game, the concept is funny, and the music fits.
Thanks for making me laugh, well done!
I agree on upgrades suggestion and may be more various hippies?
Btw tried to shoot the cloud multiple times :)
It seems to me that the turret doesn't fire straight, but that's probably my brain.
Overall, nice concept, good humour and quite addicting, though I couldn't get any score higher than 30. Nice job!
I've gotten quite a few compliments on the music. That was kind of funny to me, because I basically googled "hippie music" and composed a simple three chord song based on what I heard. :)
@videogreg93 I've been thinking of adding an upgrade system for a post jam version. I'm thinking about maybe bullet speed, exploding cannon balls, and maybe an ability that would clear enemies.
@SetTheBet I'm not exactly sure either - I know that the music has something to do with it. I was too lazy to export it to a lower quality. I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the textures... I'm pretty new to Unity and I know that there's multiple things that I could have done better on.
@Aun Yeah, it was hard for me to shoot the van too. I discovered that it was basically impossible to get if the gun had just passed, but that was after the Compo submission was over and so I just left it as is. If I make a post-jam version, I'll be sure to add a few instructions on the menu.
@v3nevergod After discussing the plot hole with a friend, we decided that the whole time travel rules were more like BTTF instead of Doctor Who, so now that's fixed. :) I'll have to add some animations of the generator if I make a post-jam version. I would love to port this to a mobile device - that would be a nice challenge for me, and I think that it would turn out pretty cool.
@g_o Wow! That's a really good score - especially for your first try! I definitely agree that the gameplay is repetitive and lacking, but I didn't worry about it too much since I was focusing more on humor.
@Volcanic Giraffe I would love to add some more hippies. I thought of adding one that was hi, and maybe one with a guitar. Originally I had planned to add lightning that would strike the hippies whenever you hit a cloud, but I never got around to adding that. I might add it in a post-jam version, if I make one.
@Pickens Inc. Thanks for playing my game on your stream! I watched it and removed the unnecessary debug files. That was really helpful feedback for me because I don't have a windows computer. The turret does fire straight, but by the time the bullet becomes visible it just looks like it fires down.
