The freezing cold of winter rages on your farm. On top of this there’s just you and your humble cottage with one tiny oven. Hurry and burn everything you can find on your ground to generate enough heat! How many days can you survive?

Story

It is the 31 December 1817. You are a poor little peasant with a small farm in the middle of nowhere. In the coming weeks, temperatures are expected to drop to -70 degrees Celsius, and to make things worse, the totalitarian government can only provide aid in a month's time when the temperature has dropped. Now while you listen to the latest weather reports on your radio every day, you have to do everything to survive.

Gameplay

The most important instrument to survive is your oven. You can only survive within its range. By burning wood and clothes you can increase the range of your oven and enter new areas of the map. You have to sleep every night while the stove burns out. The amount lost depends on the temperature of the night and the amount of wood in the oven. And don’t forget to still your hunger!

Turn on sound, for the best experience.

You should change the category of your download link, it's set to source code so a lot of people will probably ignore this game because they'll think there's no binary to play. Anyone else reading this: it is a binary!

The intro you added is really nice, actual 3d cutscenes are pretty slick.
I like the radio announcer, and I was starting to get into the gameplay, but I think I ran into a bug? My hunger seems to be permanently maxed, but I can just go to bed repeatedly to advance the days. I can't do anything else because my hunger is maxed, and I can't eat because I have no food.

When I did still have some food the problem was that I could harvest a turnip, but that made me hungry. It made me more hungry than eating it refilled me :p

Let me know if I'm justb doing it wrong or if it's a bug. If it's a bug and you post a fixed version I'd try again.

Hey, @wheybags
thanks for the tip, i changed it. And yeah, we ran into some problem with our hunger system, so we changed it.
I uploaded an updated version, where we fixed some of our biggest problems. Check it out if you like.

An interesting game! I played it a few times over to get the hang of it but I don't think I made it past day 11 or 12! It gets pretty hard! I think I might keep it to see what happens after a month!

Not bad at all! Took me a while to figure out how to eat but that's because i wasn't exploring the room as much as i should have. Perhaps put some stuff on the table like a plate or some cutlery :) Had a good time though, as a Russian myself

Beautifull graphics and audio. The radio and the context creates a great feeling in this game.
Excellent work!

This is a very nice game. I like the graphics a lot. And the changing state of the world outside was great (I was surprised and almost died when one day I went outside as usual and the safe zone ended at my door ;)).
It feels a bit repetitive at times because there is really not much variety of activities - but I guess that is also somewhat of a point. And the hunger system works well now.

The idea is awesome, the setup is great too, great work for a short period of time :) There might be a slightly better indication of what wood/temperature ratio might be needed to not freeze in the morning as that's probably the worst way to wake up! (IRL and in game!), you could have some sort of book with notes in it to keep in the theme :)

So first off: it's beautiful. Definitely best looking game so far. The gameplay does a good job of evoking toil, but there's not really any *challenge*. You harvest far more turnips than you need, and there's no downside to rejecting the people asking you to give stuff away. Wood *almost* comes close to being a problem, but it basically comes down to doing your chores each day and you're more than set. Ended with close to a hundred turnips myself.

Honestly it could probably be "survive a week" and you would get 90% of the same experience without the IRL toil.

Also, I think the word you're looking for is "satiated", not "saturated".

Hi @picusbgames, thanks for your comment :)
The subtitles at the beginning (after you wake up) mention, that you need to fill the bar in order to have enough heat for the night. But you are right, probably this is not clear enough. Especially because it's probably very common to look around at the beginning (and don't look too much at the subtitles). We will think of a way improve this :D

@stefan0198 thank you! I love the intro video but probably missed that or misinterpreted it! You have awesome posters on the wall you could probably incorporate that somehow in a way that fits in the theme (just sharing thoughts!) :)

Now this is an impressive jam game! I had a bug where the music and speech played twice with little delay, and the there was another clock on top of the original clock. And like one comment said, week would probably been enough, as the gameplay gets a repetitive after a while. Annyways, great entry!

Interesting Game.

Unfortunately some Bugs and often there was no clear hint why I died.
Froze to Death with Full Oven...

But a very good Start. The Graphics are pretty nice, the Sounds and Music are excellent. Well Done.
