The Last Ship by FedorL

[raw]
made by FedorL for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Carry humanity from dying planet into the bright future! Supposed to be something like that, but I joined compo on the middle of the last day and spent all the time on ROCKET SCIENCE instead of the actual game.

Made in rust with macroquad

Sad that you only had half a day on this one. For what it was, it was very cool. Would be neat to add in more astral bodies to float between. The rocket definitely needs more boost... Even my exhaust couldn't change direction ;)

I'm kinda interested in what it's Supposed to be

Controls were hard to manage. Whilst the mechanics seemed to be more based on reality they lacked fun and responsiveness to move and pilot the ship around to explore, if the controls were based on actual rocket science then putting in a proxy for gravity so it would have made it more fun to play.

For the time you spent on this it's really cool. I'd love to see where you would have gone with this because there are some really great details. The camera zoom out to reveal the full planet is really slick and a great effect. That initial zoom out is fantastic 2D camera work

The aesthetic is a really well put together one for a gamejam as well, and I could see it working very well in a more fleshed out game.

Looks super slick. I tried landing on the other planet and fell straight through it instead. With some real gameplay and gravity this would be really cool. Good job!

Nice to see a game written in Rust-lang :)

Super trippy background-scrolling effect!

I'm interested in macroquad/miniquad now, I'll check it out at some point!

BTW, is there a reason the assets aren't in the repo?
I like to download games, as a reminder of what games I played during which jam.
But I can't run the game without the assets.

Nice to see another Rust game :)

@noahro updater the repo, should works with public version of mini/macroquad now.

However the code is the worst mess I ever made, be aware!

A game by the creator of the miniquad library, awesome!
