Soundscapes by Kaish

[raw]
made by Kaish for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

BannerGif.gif

We try to convey the feeling of nothing by presenting the player with a blank black screen.

As the player discovers new sounds, he can mount an image in his mind.

Based on "Spot the differences" but using only sounds.

How to Play 🎮

• Move the mouse to hear the sounds

• When you find a sound difference between the panels click it

Nice Game.
A simple game, but a good mechanic.
I thinks this game can realease with more levels one day :). My opinion hehe.

Very much enjoyed this. How am I supposed to rate it for graphics though? 🤔

Aaaaaaahhhhh, I love this! Really unique concept and excellent presentation with minimal assets. This was a strangely soothing experience. :)

Creative take on the theme! There was nothing preventing me from spam clicking to beat levels  but the challenge of finding sounds was enjoyable.

I was unable to hear any distinct sounds no matter where I clicked on the screen in the web version.

What a simple masterpiece! This game played with one concept and projected it in a relaxing setting. Even though I knew the objective was to find and click on different sounds, I couldn't help myself at slowly transitioning between the unknown audios.

The ending was a perfect segue! Cheers!

Great concept, and very original. I enjoyed my time with the game, though I think the interface made the objective a little bit difficult to understand at first, interaction wise. I found myself clicking around rather than carefully choosing a spot. I imagine you'd solve this with limited guesses or more defined spaces(though i'm not sure how you'd do that without defeating the purpose of the game).

There's a nugget of an amazing game somewhere here. Very cool idea! I wish the game enforced listening to the sounds more. I wanted to just sit back and hear the audio. Would definitely like to this expanded. Good work!

i love that mousepointer!. Innovative gameplay, though i don't think i would play it for a longer time, but as a new kind of puzzle that could be used in other games its very nice

The description really undersells the game; I wasn't expecting much, but was positively surprised.

Game worked beautifully. The... hitboxes, I guess? were a bit on the small side, but since there's no penalty for missing the mark, it was a very mild annoyance at worst. Each scene acting as a storyboard was a nice touch.

Well done!

Such a wonderful game! Would like to see this find a market for people with visual impairments to enjoy as well. Would just need some tweaking to provide clues so the player knows which side of the screen they are on. Hope to see this developed further and on the app store one day! Again great work!

Great game! The sound design is topnotch and the whole idea of the game is innovative. One of the best interpretations of the theme I've seen so far.

Wow, really cool and original idea you've got here! It was a really fun puzzle game, and finding the different sounds was challenging, but not impossible to do. Thanks for making a cool game!

Nice, but I could win the game by just spam clicking

Maybe if you misclick too many times, you lose?

@sheepdog123
Unfortunately we have this little problem, which can also happen in a "spot the differences" on paper, where I can do an X on everything and say "I Win!"
When i do this, I lost the experience. :sob:

We are listening to opinions on this observation and let's think of something that is fun and fair.

Thank you so much for playing, rating and commenting.

Really neat idea! It's sort of like a "What's different in these two images" game, but with sound. I found the sound design to be excellent. Playing this game with headphones is a must!
I think the main issue I had was that it's possible to just randomly click until you win. I think maybe having a limited number of clicks would help with this. The only other issue I had was that the game was too short. I want more of it!

Very neat idea. Don't think I've seen this done before. Full points for innovation certainly.

Great concept, but maybe you should punish the player if he spams clicking everywhere and doing that you lose the expierence of paying attention to each sound to find the one that doesn't fit (not my case, but others can do it). The mechanics is very simple but entertaining, very relaxing. The sounds are very achieved. My congrats! GJ! :D

Just Awesome.

The Sounds are really good balanced in volume. The change in the stereo channels is totally awesome and freaking incredible. The whole concept is very cool and innovative. And I like the way to handled the Theme aswell.

What a great Job.

Already gave feedback on stream but but interesting concept. Need more incentive to not just click around and guess on one panel. Overall a fun take on the "Spot the difference" type of game!

I liked the game I thought It was quite unique in the usage of sound, In my opinion it needs different audio puzzles to be a more better experience, check the witness audio puzzles for some inspiration, looking forward to see what you make next :)

I enjoyed using my ears to play a game. The only thing is that there is no penalty for clicking on an incorrect sound. I'm not sure, but I think it might make the game more interesting to penalize the player for clicking on a wrong sound. It was quite fun and relaxing.

One of my Ludum Dare games was game for people that could not see. And your games reminds me about that. Pretty interesting conception! One quirk - it has pretty counter intuitive tutorial for my teaste. But overall i have fun while playing your games!

Wow so cool and innovative idea! I really like it! The sounds are perfect! Maybe I would add some kind of punishment for failing a click, as right now you can spam clicks until you find the answer.

I like the idea and I thought it was very fitting to the theme, but gameplay-wise just ended up randomly clicking on the screen. Good work overall though :)

Super cool and original idea. Liked a lot. Can suggest to add some visual explanation for the first levels for better understanding. Also left\right channels could be switched more smoothly for sounds.

The concept is cool, but I'm not sure if it fits well with the idea of "Nothing" on screen. I think I would have enjoyed it more with some art to explore ^^

Anyway, thanks for this experience!

Great idea and i love the execution. It actually took me a little to understand what i was supposed to do, but hey, its late *lol*
I would suggest a limit on how many times a player can click before i loose.

Very relaxing, and the sounds are so clear. Never seen a "spot the difference" game quite like it, and I love how the credits were incorporated in the last level. Amazing entry!

Hey guys realy cool game i wasn't really sure what to expect with a description like that but even just the beginning was straight out cool, right before the name of the game even pops up. I found the ideia in general very innovative its like playing does find the difference in the picture games but now with sound, quite refreshing =D.
Overall very good entry.

This was a very interesting concept! I thought it was very cool, and executed well in the time given. I think it could be cool in the future to bring in music as opposed to only sound effects as well. Overall, great job!
