You are the last Dance Commander, so go show them HOW IT'S DONE! But be sure to keep your party alive!

With the help of your dance-commanding skills you gather a crowd of dancing people around you, and soon enough the whole dance floor will be yours!

GAME RULES

To gain movement speed press spacebar with the beat of the music.

To gain control of another person, you or your party members need to physically bump into him (your sprites should collide). Auras around characters are only a visual indication of this character's faction.

There are 4 different factions: - Freeroamers (grey auras) - can be captured with any party strength. Gives +1 to your party strength when captured. - Solo dancers (blue auras) - can be captured if your party strength is 16 or higher. Gives +5/+2 to your party strength when captured. If you interact with them while your party strength is lower than 16, you would lose control of one of your party members. - Bouncers (red auras) - can be captured if your party strength is 46 or higher. Gives +10/+4 to your party strength when captured. If they see you or your party members, the would start chasing you and would try to arrest your party members, so you should try to avoid guys with red auras while your party strength is lower than 46. - Fake Dance Commanders (yellow auras) - can be captured if your party strength is 66 or higher. Gives varying amounts of party strength. If you interact with them while your party strength is lower than 66, they would steal your party members.

Guys with green auras are your party members.

Controls: - WASD - Move - Spacebar - Dance! - ESC - Main Menu

Wow that was really cool. The graphics look very professional. I love the neon look to it. I did feel like the beat recognition was flawed. No matter what I did it seemed the only thing that worked was just a steady clicking of the space bar. The beat didn't seem to match that. Still thought it was cool though. Great job!

Really loved the look of the game! like the Graphics were great but the beat recognition was hard to match. Great game though.

I played the whole thing with a big smile. It is really charming!

I'm a drummer so you had me at follow the beat.

There are a lot of games with this sort of idea, BUT this one really hits the spot. Idk, it really was just a fun experience. Art was the biggest highlight of this game. Had a good laugh tapping to the beat (even though it was a little flawed, it was still a ton of fun).

Fun game idea, but I got black squares instead of party members on the last level. Music is a little bit hard to follow, so I'm suck at this game :(

Really nice game, fun to play and a neat take on the theme  did have a minor bug on a later level on the WebGL version where all the character sprites seemed to break but apart from that great game!

This game gave me a great mood and the take on the theme is really creative. Struggled to understand why I wasn't getting the followers on the second level even though I was hitting the beats, its probably on me though. Really well done overall.

I am a huge sucker for rhythm games so this was right up my alley! It was a very creative take on the theme. I do feel like the beat was very hard to follow, and some sort of indicator on the timing would've been helpful on when to press, more than just feedback after the fact on if it was good or bad.

That said, the music was groovy and the graphics really complimented it as well! Overall a really solid game!

As I was playing I was thinking the dance "circles" look like "virus" risk zones haha :) Too bad I am bad at games like this, but the game was very good anyway!

Fun game, although i'm trash at it, maybe a prompt for the rythm-impaired would be great.

this is such an innovative idea, I love it! I just didn't understand how to beat level 1 hahaha, this guy always came out punch my new dance friends :'(

This is a fun idea, but I simply don't have the coordination to play it. Tapping on the beat while moving is not in my skill set.

Graphically it's quite beautiful. The auras are simple but very effective.

Doo doo do, dah dah doo doo doo. The music's catchy.

I like the theme of keeping the party alive, but I'm biased because we did the same thing.

Cool graphics and nice beats :D The bouncer in level 1 really got me XD Good game overall though!

Also, a little bug perhaps, but if you walk to the bottom right corner you consistently fall through the level :)

Same comments as most of everyone else, really: the graphics are amazing, but either the beat recognition was a little off or I was completely incapable of getting it down for more than a few seconds at a time. Still, excellent potential, great work!

Looks cool but it's a bit hard to tell the auras apart sometimes.

Looks very cool and funny, but I sucked bcs I have no rhythm sense I guess :(

Good concept! It was fun to play but a bit difficult to recognise the beat, I had to look at the colour effects on the sides to actually know the beat.

Great concept and art. I personally found it very difficult to make progress, I couldn't even beat the level that was just the bouncer, he just kept following me and hammering on my guys :slight_frown: The auras didn't show for me in Firefox but I switched to Chrome and that was fine. It's cool though, with a few tweaks to the difficulty I would love to play it again.

Hard to keep the beat and get a good screenshot! At first I was bothered by the movement speed, but that was because I missed the instruction about timing the spacebar- that was a big help. Ooo then that dance party got started! Thanks for the fun game!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, and sorry for being so slow with this reply.

@kyle-bowman Yeah, it is just steady clicking, so it's more like "follow the overall rhythm". We added the rhythm mechanic on the last day and had not much time to test it out and polish it.

@yarpoplar Ah... That's very sad, the last level is the best one :slight_frown:

@jamie-slowgrove Yeah... It seems like the web version has some issues (even though it works fine on our end). We should look into it, thank you.

@sid-fish-games Following the beat gives you speed, not followers  You should bump into people to gain control of them. Also, your party strength should be high enough.

@alessia-ip Thank you for your feedback! Initially, we had a beat indicator in the center of the screen, but it was getting all of our attention, and it became impossible to pay any attention to your party and surroundings (which is a big part of gameplay). So instead of the circle in the center of the screen, we added vibrations at the corners. You can look at them if you off the beat, and concentrate on your surroundings when you back on track.

@evert Yeah, we know about that little problem. There are a lot more spots on the levels, where you can glitch through the floor. So instead of fixing them we just added a "teleportation" mechanic

@skitzogamer Yeah, we should do something with the auras. Some colors just look very similar (grey and blue) and when people standing too close one aura overtakes the other.

@randomhuman Thank you for the feedback! A lot of people are having problems with the bouncers. So it seems like "I should make bouncers more aggressive, otherwise it's too easy" was not the brightest of my thoughts  It's really strange that you've got that problem on firefox (it works on my end in firefox). Maybe the problem appears after multiple level reloads.

I also think the bouncer is too aggresive but the idea is super cool and feels unique. Also the visuals are pretty cool, especially the circle thing that blobs together with the other circles

Well done!

Nice jam! Loved the groovy tune and the fluid fx. Good use of the rhythm mechanic to navigate the space. Found it pretty challenging overall. Good job!

Neat concept, pretty fun. There is an aspect that it feels awkward keeping the beat, it's sort of a rub your stomach/pat your head problem. Also the bouncer feels overpowered, was struggling even in the first level. Really enjoy the vibe could have used some difficulty tuning. Great work otherwise!
