Ludum and the Lost Pages by solluxx
A puzzle platformer about a wizard regaining his former power.
Play through 8 levels of increasing difficulty. Start from nothing (not even the clothes on your back) and make your way through a vast forgotten library. Find tomes of power that will help you once again become a powerful wizard and escape!
Use WASD to move and jump
Use the ARROW KEYS to perform spells after you obtain them - Down arrow - Fireball - Fire a projectile that destroys boxes and enemies - Up arrow - Magic Leap - Jump higher - Left arrow - Stone Skin - Protect yourself from damaging spikes and enemies - Right arrow - Teleport - Blink yourself in the direction you are facing
Use R to reset if you run into any issues!
Use the mouse to hover over your abilities to find out the correct key press and what they do.
UPDATE: I fixed the key press issue for the spells. The controls should be much snappier! Have fun!

Thanks everyone for all the kind words!
- Please add the "R" for reset command somewhere in your description -- had to use it after teleporting out of bounds and falling out of the level. (thanks for including it!)
- Please make the spells trigger on key press instead of key release! Triggering on key release is an unintuitive behavior that leads to people thinking that your controls are a bit unresponsive. I got used to it after a few levels, but it felt very off at first.
- Please increase the volume of your sounds :)
Other than that, it's a bit rough around the edges, but everything here is pretty great and fun for a jam game. Not having the entire level reset on death was an especially nice touch as it never led to any particularly frustrating moments (despite the key release input issue causing a number of deaths). An enjoyable playthrough!
However, i find it very annoying that the spells are used on key release (or key up) and not on key down as the other controls. It really turn the game harder than it should be. Also, turn up the volume, i had to crank the sound to barely hear something.
With that in mind is also interesting that you put up multiple levels really polished.
Congrats on developing this game!
Your main mechanic worked well with the theme, the sounds, music and aesthetics were nice, and the level design got interesting when it required you to use your whole arsenal of spells to get through.
A few nitpicks though :
- The stairs' hitbox makes it awkward to maneuver around them
- The teleportation spell can teleport you out of bounds
- Sometimes remembering what key is bound to what spell is hard, perhaps a key reminder around the spell icon, or placing the icons in a cross shape instead of a line would make a good reminder
Congrats on the end result!
@gamefive Oh really? I must have left that in on accident. I think for the purposes of the jam it is probably ok. Thanks for playing!
@derek-volker Key press issue was a big miss on my part. Thank you!
@scaelin You are right about the teleport issue. I never thought to do that in my test, clever! I probably should have just left the stairs out, didn't have time to fix them. They should just be decoration and not affect the platforming too much. For the spells you can hover over them with the mouse to find out the key, should have made that more obvious. Thanks!
As others pointed, the only thing that spoil the experience is the controls  especially the jump controls. Maybe, as another commenter pointed, make them respond to key press instead to key release!
Still an excellent entry!

I have fixed the key release issue for the spells based on your feedback. Thanks for playing!
I tied to launch the game via Wine on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but it seems I've got Editor mode not the game..

This is pretty neat platformer. The very start reminds me of Arthur from Ghouls and Goblins..
I'm curious what engine you have made this game in?
Suggestions:
- some spell cool-down tweak for super jump?
- or if one insists to cast a spell despite cooldown, the spell is cast (limited amounts) but it extends its cooldown or its spell-strength is weaker (shorter range, etc..) till it fizzled.
- Interested to see further variation of elemental spells and skills..
- Perhaps a variation of different robes (to imply different magical class: mage, sorcerer, wizard, conjurer); for new or variation of abilities and challenges.. :comet:
The Stone Skin at times catch me off-guard; the effects are half of the overall cool-down once cast:
e.g- 24 .. 10..0 (effect is already off); This situation more likely to happen on timing those jumps when landed on the two sets of platform-spikes
Neat entry Overall! :dizzy:
Nice work!
Didn't feel like you could use super jump enough it seems. I get that.
Freeze spell almost made it in, but we ran out of time. You would freeze enemies to turn them into platforms. Would make a really cool addition if I revisit it.
The robe thing is a really good idea. We originally wanted the robes to pop off if you got hit al-la Ghosts and Goblins. Those games were real inspirations.
All the cool downs could use some refinement, agree on that for sure.
Thanks so much for playing!

Thanks @solluxx
