The Monkey Weekend by Paulsams

[raw]
made by Paulsams for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

We made a platformer-quest about a monkey that saved the city from a dove that can blow up a nuclear power plant!

Monkey Weekend is a quest platformer with an unusual combination of 2D graphics and 3D space. The extraordinary plot of the game tells about a monkey living on the streets of the city, which is stuck in a time loop and must figure out how to get out of it. By the way, the city is in great danger. A mad dove can blow up a nuclear power plant in another fit of madness. Could someone specifically create this time loop to give the monkey the ability to stop the dove?

The game is that you have to find a logical connection between actions, possibilities and coincidences of events. It assumes multiple replayability, where you will always explore the city, catch yourself thinking that you probably did something wrong, watch how the city changes depending on your choices. In general, you should collect information from each lap and come to a good ending). ^_^

Good Luck!

Z - Jump; X - Interact; Arrows - Walk; Left Shift - Skip day.

I really like the cylinder effect for the world rendering! Awesome job!

I think there's something cool in there, but its hard to understand what to do or what is happening.

I don't really understand what was happening to be completely honest, I couldn't even tell if there were controls

Hey I really liked the beginning with the bomb going off, looked really cool. I also like the cylinder effect that frank mentioned. I do find myself confused on what to do. I've explored the area and collected a bunch of stuff but I don't know what to do with it. I find myself trying to jump over to the phone line where the birds are but I can't seem to get there. Its also a little confusing knowing what platforms you can stand on and what ones you can't. At the same time, not knowing which ones I could stand on made exploring pretty fun and discovering new ledges I could stand on and whatnot. Cool game and really good work!

I loved exploring the little city you build! Very interesting that it was a circular platformer, this definitely works. I did not really knew what I had to do though, threw over some bricks and paint pots, but the last 2 - 3 days I just hung out there, not knowing what to do. A little more guidance would be cool. All in all a very cool concept!

Nice concept and cool cylinder effeect. I spent most of the day just jumping around trying to see which objects I can interact with. I don't think the days should have a time limit if the idea is for you to figure things out by yourself.

I'm not sure what i am supposed to do. Threw a brick down and a paint bucket but aside from that. Power plant exploded hard. Graphics look nice though and the sound effects are well made as well.

This is an interactive quest that assumes you must complete the steps in the correct order. The game is that you have to find a logical connection between actions, possibilities and coincidences of events. Really liked the cylindrical effect and general monkeying around. Did get a little bit lost on what to do but overall enjoyed it. Good job.

Good idea with running in a circle. I like the loop metaphor on this one. I didn't quite understand what I had to do, unfortunately. But I had a nice time! Good luck!

It looks really good, The mood is great as well. The game and story idea is great, but in way it is not fully translated to the player. The goal doesn't become clear from the game itself, maybe if we got some guidance or clues it would be better. Overall great job
