JarHeads by Aurel300

MUSIC: There is music in the game, but in some browsers it does not start automatically. If you don't hear music in the menu, toggle Music off and on again, it should fix itself.
Controls
- Arrow keys to move.
- Hold space and use the arrow keys to move with IT. Must be on the same tile.
Gameplay
- Purple bullets hurt you, blue bullets hurt IT.
- Holding IT drains your stamina bar. If it runs out, you will need to wait a bit before being able to carry IT again.
- Keep IT (and yourself) alive!
- Tip: you get extra score when IT passes through purple bullets.
JarHeads, the Story
It is the distant future, the year 201X.
Mad scientists across the world have united to create the maddest experiment yet. Collectively, they are known as the League of Earth's Worseningly Deranged Scientists. Their experiment: putting heads into jars.
After lengthy negotiations with the World's United Sanest Scientists, the key ingredient to the experiment was identified: heads in jars without the body attached.
Is is now the even more distant future, the year 201Y.
You, wearing a kind of a jar on your head, and a creature you can only refer to as IT are the last of your kind.
You are the JarHeads.

Also for some reason you have to avoid waves of bullets.

Congratulations!
I love the balance of twitch gameplay and really nice telegraphing
I made it to place 5 after three attempts (as for now!). I was a bit overwhelmed at the beginning because I didn't fully understood the mechanics yet. Afterwards, I was hooked. But I still think that some of the obstsacles were almost impossible to overcome. Sometimes I had to carry IT a longer way to not have it take damage and I always dropped him because the stamina ran out. Maybe there is another strategy to this, but it seemed like I had no choice but to take damage.
Great game! Thanks for makeing this
(I had a peek at your source code! some very interesting tech there!)
- the risk/reward of dropping purple friend in front of purple bullets
- how the soundtrack that increased in intensity with the gameplay
- the way the bullets moved across tiles to make their direction of motion extra obvious
This game feels remarkably complete and polished. Had a lot of fun playing!
I like this simple and fascinating game mechanic. Good work!
I didn't even know you made a game when I was watching you and Danae's stream, I'm so glad you left a comment so I could come check it out!!
The MUSIC is **SO GOOD**. Did you compose it? I love it! Especially the main menu music! I've tried to keep the game running in the background just so I could keep the beats playing, but it seems like the tab needs focus in order for it to play correctly :(
I don't think I really have anything bad to say about it.. Maybe it would be nice if it was a bit more obvious when the tiles that are about to have bullets run over them? It got kinda hectic and hard to tell when the screen was filled with them. The small arrows sometimes just weren't enough. But other than that, awesome job man!!
Impressive character design and sounds especially for a compo!
The graphics are awesome. Maybe some better color coding for bullets and characters would be great? I kept forgetting which bullets hurt who :)
Great polish and Haxe is a great language!
