Very good for a first game! Awesome that you used Godot. Also nice work on the parallaxing background. But man this game is hard. I think the movement is a little slow, so it is hard to follow the egg when you throw it.

Hi Rick,

Congrats on a finished/playable game on your first LD. That is a great accomplishment.
The game is really hard though. Might be a good thing to have multiple levels, where the first ones are really easy, so the player can get to know the controls a bit

Thanks for your game!

Yeah, it was only after I completed it and played it for a while that I realized how difficult it is. Should just have one egg eater at first, and add one eater each time. Also, the map is hard. But thanks a lot for the feedback!

So, congrats for your first game, couldn't get it to the end of the level because an egg eater stuck in the corner of the "ramp", so yeah, i'm sad.

It's hard, mainly because of the controls i guess. The character is so slooow, compared on how high he jump. I also think the camera should go forward the player when he's moving.

One way you could do that is by following a point forward the player, and to smooth everything out easily, you could use linear interpolation for the camera movement.

Well, in overall, that's a sweet little platformer you got here.

Congratulations on making your first game and finishing it in time!
I like the background music. You even made 2 tracks - for the menu and game :)

I agree with other players, that the character should move faster.
There's also something peculiar about input handling - I can move and jump the same time, but cannot move and throw the egg at the same time.

All in all it's a really fun game for a first project. Be proud of your creation and cherish your accomplishment :)

I think you can't throw, because the egg is actually throwing itself, rather than the star throwing it. So the jump and move is all internally controlled, but I use a signal (couldn't figure out any other way) to tell the egg that it is being thrown. So that might account for the lagging. :(

Congrats on completing your first Ludum Dare! Just completing a game and submitting it is a huge accomplishment. I'll echo what others have said in that it was a difficult game and the controls are hard to manage. It seems like you're new to Godot, so it's impressive that you finished the game in time with it. Nice work!

Thanks! I don't know if I'm allowed to fix it yet, but I can adjust the walking speeds up and reduce the Egg Eaters and slowly increase them as you save eggs. I'll do that later and hopefully it will be an improvement. Have to wait until voting is over I guess.

I really liked the throwing mechanic with the egg making it possible to get over the egg eaters. Again the movement was a little slow and buggy but still worked and didn't come across any game breaking bugs so amazing work. Great job on finishing your first game!

This game was pretty fun. However, I did have some trouble figuring out how to throw the eggs effectively but with some practice I got it. I think if the movement speed was a bit faster or had a "hold to run" button it'd be a lot easier to play. But this was a cool idea and I am glad you got it done! Good job!
