[raw]
made by FishMasterino for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

ScreenShot.png

Reach the end of the dungeon !

Kill ennemies, don't fall into spikes and reach the portal ! Sounds easy, but there's a catch : your moves from the first floor of a level will be replayed for the following floors. Find a sequence of moves that can bring you to the end !

Controls

On first floor: ARROW KEYS to move SPACE to attack

On following floors: RIGHT to speed up LEFT to slow down SPACE to pause

R to reset level

Awesome job 🌈

The art, animation and sounds are incredible, and the game feels very polished!
The core mechanic fits perfectly to the theme. I thought of it too, but didn't feel I would be able to do a good game with it. You did, and the level design manages to avoid most traps of a mechanic that could have become too repetitive too fast.

Thanks for the game 🗡

Really cool mechanic and polished game! I loved the art too!
My suggestions: sometimes it detects multiple key presses when holding and maybe show the layout of the next stages in the same level. I sometimes died fast in the 3rd stage and was not able to see how it looks :)

Awesome game. I loved how the loop was integrated in the gameplay, and I found it well balanced even though I imagine it must have been hard to design the puzzles. Artwork is smooth! Good job!

Nice entry ! Indeed cool mechanics that fit the theme well. Nice curve of difficulty, it's very satisfying to watch the input 'replay' too.
You could have add more time after death to analyse the level better. Thanks for this game !

Very nice pixel art a simple yet catchy idea!

I'd only wish for all the levels to be somehow connected between one another, or for the player to be able to rewind their latest move if they think it's been wrong.

Great job!

Very nice music, graphics and the presentation of the concept with the arrow bar was really nice to look at. Though the music stopped and restarted after every level, I think a continuous flow would vibe better. :D Overall it felt very polished! :)

You made me pull out a pen and a piece of paper to be able to go further in the game. I started drawing the maps on my paper and doodle - ing where i go. Really nice game, really polished and really well made.
The artstyle and the music is just spot on. It looks and sounds exactly like it should. You really did a great job in the artistic department of the game.
Gameplay wise is just mind breaking. You really have to stop and think what you are doing, how did the map look and what should i do now?
The best part i think is just how you die everytime the first time you play a level. You are like let s us see, do i go into another mob, do i just walk past the exit, do i just walk in a wall for 5 minutes straight or the classical spike pit? And should the moments where you stop mid-game and go like " Hmm, was it one more step to the left or am i too far? "

Really nice and you did a great great job. Hope to see a fully fledge game out of this demo and see it released on steam. Cheers and good luck / have fun.

This was super cool. The concept music and art were all great. reminds me of that lil Yoshi game on Nintendo land where you collect the fruit.

Cool concept! I would've liked a way to see the 2nd floor before completing the first floor though.

Mechanics are cool, it was a bit frustrating to have to finish a level just to see the next one and die. I enjoyed it a lot but guys, thinks my moves for three levels, it's to ask too much from me :D

Wow, I've never played a game like this before. It was very creative. Takes a lot of memory to master but it isn't frustrating. The rules are simple, the level designs are fair and rely on trial an error. It's challenging but in a good way. The art is great too. Great work.

Nice game with strong mecanics.
Pixel art and music are really good :)
I'm stuck at level 4, Is there a mechanic that I didn't understand?

Cute and fun game ! I only played the first few levels, so maybe what I will say is already implemented, but I wish they were more depth in levels, like 3 or 4 layers of rewind that you need to handle at once. Also, the game doesn't let a lot of time to look at the second stage of a level, so you sometimes need to just die and memorize the stage as good as you can, but this definitely should be something that you have more time for, here it's just looking everything, hoping that you'll remember everything (which is too hard).

This is a really nice and polished entry overall, thanks!

@harusame if you walk down on the pillar you won't move a tile. But you will in the next room.

@saering not having enough time to see the levels is something that quite a few people commented on. You can press SPACE to pause input replay. We'd have liked to put some kind of tutorial in the game to teach you this, but didn't have the time to do so.
There is actually a level with 3 layers later in the game, but these are quite hard to design so we couldn't put more. If you reach the final level, there is even a twist on the mechanic.

@harusame as @mubble said, going into a wall will still store your input

@ everybody else: thank you for the kind comments !

I finally managed to finish all the levels. Damn, this game is good. It's really straight-forward and easy to get into. So even if a level gets difficult, I don't feel like I can't do it, because I understand the mechanics. Which makes me want to keep going till I finish it.

The only thing that I'm missing is a way of viewing the stages that come after. It was fine with the levels that had 2 stages. But with 3 stages it became way more difficult to memorize it all.

Overall, really enjoyable and good looking game!

I love the idea and the overall feel of the game. The art and the music is top notch. As others have said, the time to analyze the second level is a bit short and the game becomes a bit frustrating when just have to run to the exit of the first level to see the second level again. Awesome job nonetheless!

Wow really awesome work :D Only issue I could find is the resetting music on each level change. Apart from that you should be really proud of your game!

I think it would be nice to add the posibility to view other floors. I had to draw the last one on paper XD

Hi! Great game! I didn't manage the one with 3 floors, I even drawed it, but i have no idea on how to fit the pathing on the 1st floor. Overall great game, col design and nice graphics and music =)

really nicely put together I think. You introduce the player to a simple idea and then every level build on it and add to it. I started some levels thinking it was impossible and then once i figured it out felt like a genius! great work! the art and sound work well together and all fit nicely as part of the astethic.

I really like the game. The mechanics are awesome, I think there can be a lot more levels made with this as this is good enough start for many ideas :)

Fantastic game. Really enjoyed the mechanics. I got stuck on level 4 until I saw, on here, about walking into a wall will still add the command. Great job, solid LD entry. Congrats :raised_hands:

Well that music is a total banger. Your concept is very fresh. You nailed the theme. The sprites are beautiful and functional. I cant say anything bad about this.

I love the concept, loved playing it and appreciated the polish ! Congratulations !
My only concern (but it's a tough one to work around) is that, rapidly, I just lose interest in the first time I play the first part of the level, because I know I'm going to lose when the second part of the level unravels. Maybe having a "flash" (even just 1s) of the second part of the level before beginning would make that first set of moves more attractive.
But all in all, a strong game, bravo !
