screenshot.png

A game where you keeping alive a guy roaming across the screen by using the Twitch commands (type '!help' for help).

You have to count with the lag and be accurate.

You can also switch the food you create.

The more players playing at the same time, the more fun! (your experience may vary tho)

I'll try to make the game running on Twitch as much as possible.

When Twitch stream is down or not responsive to commands

You can play the WebGL version without Twitch integration. Or download the binary with an input box GUI to play the game locally. The game is much less challenging then because of the absence of Twitch lag :)

You can also follow the Twitch channel and be notified when the game is up.

Special thanks

  • Thomas the Rather for hosting the game on his laptop during days while my laptop was used for work!
  • My lovely wife to take care of everything so I could have created the game :)

Compo notes

The graphics were made by my 5 yo daughter. I'll let you decide whether I'm still eligible for compo or not.

I post-compo fixed an issue with disconnecting from Twitch chat after some time.

Also the native binaries and WebGL were compiled post-compo. The input-field was created in Compo time tho.

This was the most I've ever typed in Twitch

I can tell by the high score and previous comment on here that it's possible to play the game, but the instructions didn't pop up when I typed !help so I wasn't able to do anything. The music is absolutely fantastic, though. I'm assuming the bot or whatever got disconnected somehow before I showed up. I'll drop you a follow on Twitch and try again later so I can give a complete rating.

I do like that it auto-restarts the game, so that it can be enjoyed as a Twitch experience even without your presence, other than it apparently being disconnected since !help isn't working. I think Twitch integration is really neat, so it's fun to see that in a compo game even if I can't play it yet!

@papabirb Hello, dear sir, thanks for coming by and trying my game! The game has some issues with Twitch connectivity when it is up for too long. If your interest persists, you can try it now :)

I just got the highest score ! Really innovative idea, you should comment on other game to have more visibility !

I really like this idea-- had to play it without the Twitch integration, but I could totally see this being a thing that people play while on a BRB screen or anything like that.

Loved the art and the music was perfect. Well done!

This is a fun idea!

I checked offline webgl version, and can confirm that '!help' doesn't work there. Also you can use commands like 'A5' there, without '!' sign, and it works.

this is hard, but twitch plays are fun, so good job :)

Great idea! But you really should get more visibility to this, playing with more people is fun with this sort of thing. Finding the right place to put things was hard, and I placed a food right behind the dude several times. It hurt. Fun times.

Original idea! You got me hooked for a bit there. I would really like to see how you could diversify it a bit more using more game mechanics like obstacles, power ups, enemies, PvP etc. It's a good base for a fun game but in its current state it gets monotonic quite quickly. The art is cute and I love the music and sound effects! So the mood is pretty good. And I really like that it's complete and playable. Great job for a compo game!

Music was best part: simple and cute. I like that you included the drawings from your daughter, very sweet. Cool idea to work with the coordinate grid. Thanks.

Quite innovative! The sound effects and music were great. At first I thought it was going to be very hard to play but it wasn't that bad at all. Well done!

Hey, what a cool idea, big like! But yea, cause of twitch lag it's some hard to play. And special like for Jonathan Blow! 👍

Wow this is perfectly done, I just wish people would actually play at the same time. And man I love the music, your daughter is an aspiring artist also. Great job!

The idea is super innovative!
Such live interaction brings refreshing experience.

I'm lucky that just met you on Twitch.
It really could be a different game with many players.
Love the music. Graphics from your daughter are so cute.
The switching of food is a good feature as well.

As others have said, It is not easy to count with the lag and be accurate.
Even the WebGL version is too hard for me. :smirk:
I feel the Twitch lag around 5s may still be acceptable with some practice.
Hope it could be better solved in future.
