Cell Ships by Scott Armstrong

[raw]
made by Scott Armstrong for Ludum Dare 45 (COMPO)

Modular 2d spaceship building game. Click on ship cells floating around and drag them to connect them to your ship anywhere. But be careful, enemy shots can hit cells hard enough to completely knock them off your ship! Destroy the enemies by shooting at them while simultaneously building up your ship from scratch.

WASD, click and drag, space to shoot. Minimal effort put into art and sound, as this is mostly a proof of concept of how a modular physics-based shipbuilding game could work. Note that there is no exit condition, so the game will run forever until you reload it. See if you can break up all of the enemy ships (zoom out with scroll wheel to find them - there's 4 ships total).

Really cool concept, but piecing together the ship was difficult and couldn't rotate pieces. Also the movement wasn't super obvious, nonetheless great job!

Neat idea! Controlling the ship seemed really hard though, especially once you've got some momentum. I also wish I had some more time to build my ship in the beginning before the enemies come crashing in.
