BioMover by Goodzilla

[raw]
made by Goodzilla for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

Based on the blind watchmaker algorithm - evolve your biomorph and reach the goal!

  • Evolve your Biomorph by selecting your favourite.
  • Four offsprings will be created.
  • The longer an individual, the more it moves upwards, the wider, the more the individual moves left.
  • Wake it up and see if it reaches the goal

Sorry I did not have time for nicer graphics, more levels or mechanics. Later maybe ;-)

If you are interested in details on the recursive algorithm that creates the biomorphs, google for the Blind Watchmaker Algorithm.

Ok so actually, despite the lack of music and nicer graphic, it was really fun xD The mechanics were easy and it was an interesting thing to compare the biomorphs and discover how the right one is built. It could use something like a comparision between the children (when you wake up one ti could draw a line perhaps and you can then compare lines? idk. not a mechanics designer) because sometimes it was hard for me to see if the new one was closer to the goal or not. But really, I had a lot of fun and spent pleny on time on this game xD Btw html version do not work for me, had to download the zip. Good work!

Cool idea, defnitely standing out from the crowd. Ifoound it however a bit diffcult as well du judge how well the biomorphs did in comparison to each other.

I don't understand why the biomorphs go left when they get wider, but sure, why not. The game lacks a fail state, so it's extremely easy. But the idea to have to rely on random mutation to get a better organism and only influencing selection pressure) is interesting.
