The parallax backgrounds give it a nice depth.
It lacks a bit of depth to be completely honest! Something persistent like a score would be a nice little addition so there is something to work towards :)
Awesome graphic but jump mechanic is strange/buggy
- The damaging enemies was really buggy, after I died the first time, I couldn't jump on them, maybe only 1/10 it would kill them
@picusbgames you are right needs more depth, I had more ideas but I spent more time for artwork than I anticipated and than during the last hours my brain started to melt and then this is it
@batswinger thanks for playing, I will check out the bug
@koolruz stomping viruses definitely needs more work
great job
I really liked your art style, it was quite beautiful to my eyes !
The gameplay felt responsive, except the jump, indeed, that there was a sort of latency between the moment I pressed jump and the jump to trigger in game. So it was a bit frustrating, because I got hit due to this behavior.
Moreover, the feedback sounds are cool, but it is too bad that there is no music background, it would add more spicy to your general ambiance.
Overall nice work !
I would also mention I was lacking a little bit of ramping/balancing difficulty, and having a bigger variety of enemies.
As I said though, I am aware those are usually hard to tackle during a jam, and this definitely has a very nice polish and playing it was a bliss nonetheless. Thanks for the entry and great work!
@sndr @miggyg @fabian-g @reisn thanks for playing, you are right gameplay is repetitive, unfortunately with the help of bad planing I spent too much time for artwork, I didn't have much time left to diversify the gameplay elements
Stomping multiple enemies in series felt really good, you could think about adding some combo bonus to that.
As others have stated, a bit easy, but other than that a solid platformer!
@juice-lizard I'm sorry for your trouble I should have mentioned it, I didnt't code for controller support and unity's default mapping always has bugs eventhough thank you for playing
The game play was okay.
Very good visuals, I really dig the run animation and BG artwork. Music gets a little repetitive, but at least it's not overwhelmingly loud or active.
I liked the touch of naming the dead and alerting the player, but I don't know if it did anything other than that. Maybe if there was some kind of connection between the player and these characters it could carry more weight.
Maybe I missed it, but I feel there wasn't much to do or accomplish beside stomp on the viruses and bring the serums back to the hospital, could use a little more depth. Maybe more variants of the virus, or some kind of power up, deploy-able turrets, airstrikes?
The things that need more focus are the controls, collision detection and the "physics" in the game. I got really strange results when jumping close to the viruses - either they stopped my jump and pushed me back a bit, or they catapulted me really high into the air. Neither did seem like intentional effect, maybe some weird result of collision detection and the game physics?
The other thing that seemed more like a bug than intention was that I almost always got infected from stomping on the viruses. It would be nice if one could avoid being infected with some skill.
