Mr Ficus by KreGames

[raw]
made by KreGames for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

gameplay.png It all started with the plant I got from my Mom. And after a few years, I killed it :(

So I jumped into the details of taking care of a Ficus, and then came the Ludum dare theme, Keep it alive... The rest is history.

And as always, no tutorial no readme, my bad: you can water the plant by clicking on the pot (several times)!

Loved the game, had no idea how to water the plant though :( Seems pretty cool to operate the entire game by sliding a window though :)

The game was fun and like the guy above me I had NO CLUE how to water my plant. Opening and closing a window seemed to be the only mechanic (which is still fun because it requires some strategy). Nice game, just needs instructions)

Not sure I understand the controls, definitely needs either a description here or something in game to explain how to interact with the plant

Sorry, the way no time for a tutorial, some text would have been nice. But @blue-pin-studio, @izokia and @rustywolf you can water the plant by clicking on the pot. There is no feedback on that action, so you know it happened only when the water icon change state, but sometimes you have to water not just once. Some indicators / particles was in the scope, but had to drop them. Thanks for playing :)

Pretty good game, the concept is neat but I feel like the controls could be a bit more clear

Took me a while to figure out how to play, but after that I enjoyed it. With a little more work after the jam it could be a nice Ficus management game!

Cool game. I would recommend to give some feedback if clicking is successfull. I wasn't sure how to control the temperature before I read the comments. But otherwise nice entry!

Someone gave me a plant. They told me what it needed: water, happiness and a nice temperature. They even gave me a temperature sensor. Yet what I did was just opening and closing a window; opening and closing it until the day got dark. The next day, I kept opening and closing that window like it was some kind of mantra. I was the window. And the window was the plant. And we all were the plant and the window. But then, all of a sudden, my plant DIED :(( Why?? Why every plant dies on me?? I have been given many other plants, but all I can do is opening and closing windows. Please, stop my suffering, give me water. Please, help me stop opening and closing that window.

I think Ficus might get dehydrated a bit too fast, but that might just be me doing something horribly wrong. Its a pretty cool game, it fits the theme perfectly and I see youve already addressed the tutorial issue (my game didnt really have one either so I completely undesrtand haha). I also see that you did this solo, so good job on that, very impressive!

It was a good idea with the window but I had no idea how to raise temperature and or water the plant and it was really slow gameplay

Nice idea and realization. Just a thing, I didn't really understand how water works, I keep clicking on the pot but it feel like nothing is happening.

Interesting game, enjoyed. I played through a week, and managed to keep it alive through ^-^

As for what I'd personally change, I'd like to have some way of knowing whether I need more/less temperature and more/less water. Otherwise I'll see the temp turn orange, and not be sure how to fix it ^^; Some feedback to show that I actually watered the plant would be nice too.

Overall, I liked the concept, and you made it work pretty well. Congrats on your game!

I really liked the graphic details in your game. But I missed music and overall sound.

Lessons learned: Ficuses are fickle

Nice game. I only wish there was visual feedback of watering.

It was an OK game. Would be nice if you were given some tips how to take care of the plant at the beggining (temp, water levels), and better indicators for various stuff (for example if you poured too much water, the pot could overflow etc). But it was an ok game with good effort :)

The game could use some tutorials, because right now all I did was watering the plant, which seems to make it happy. It did not grow though.

The concept was quite cool ! I liked a lot the origins of your project, it is very clever to take a true story, even if it is sad, at least we can change the fate of the story in your game ! (Except for me, I'm very bad at plant care x) )

The sound design lacked me the most during my playthrough, I would have liked hearing to the sounds of the natural environment.

Overall gg for your work !
