Shadows of Drakthur by igizzy

[raw]
made by igizzy for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

Game made for ludum dare 46 using Unity, Affinity Designer, sfxr, and Song Maker.

The theme was to keep it alive, so you are in charge of the defenses of your space station on its way to Eden. Spend your resources wisely to repair and add cannons to the hull of the ship.

This is a very quick piece after taking a few years off of game development. I had a lot of fun with this one for sure. I took inspiration from the first boss in Contra (NES) wondering what it would be like to play the defense wall rather than the players. I had stretch goals of adding more sound effects, multiple turrets, power cores to shield tiles, and a chatty AI that runs the station, but had to scale these items back to make the deadline.

Simply click and build and make your way to the Eden Outpost where you and your crew will be safe!

Thanks for check out my game.

And its as close to done as I can get. I took way too long off of these things! Felt great to get some creative juices flowing!

Fun game! I had fun watching my space station slowly going down as I try to repair and defend it.

Nice basic idea and every thing works fine. But there are way to less tactical choices in the game. The Game could need some extra turrets, upgrades etc. For a 48 houre timelimit its fine :)

Thanks guys, yeah I have plans on continuing the project. I wanted to get in 2 additional placable objects. One that is a rapid fire high damage turret that overheats and takes time to cool down before firing again, and some sort of EMP that would stun all the enemy ships for a period of time, but can only be used once every 10 waves.

Fun game, nice take on a tower defence type game.
Hint for anyone who hasn't played yet: Don't place your turrets on the outside :)

Fun game, one of the funnest I've played so far (maybe 7 games so far?) Was really cathartic to get as many turrets as I could and just see ships melt.

Fun game! Really liked deciding whether to build or repair. Would love more unit unlocks and expanded a bit. I was wondering if I'd get less credits if minerals were destroyed?

Only thing I would add besides that is hot keys for placing units. Fun otherwise!

Good job!

Cool game, realized it's all about having a good start or else your station gets way too small :)

Great concept, lots of room to expand with more devtime too. I'd love a version with more upgrades and choices. Could definitely use hotkeys for actions.

It ended abruptly at wave 15, does that mean I won? I liked it, I like space stuff a lot. I'm playing on a 4K display and the `repair` and `buy` buttons are soooooo far away from my spaceship and tiny lol

Nice game. I've enjoyed playing it. The graphics are good and the sound are in place. Very addictive game.
There are a few bugs with controls I guess sometimes the tile under the cannon can not be repaired.
After level 14 it became boring as I put all the cannons and was repairing tiles.

Would be great to have some tile adding or upgrading canons. But overall the game is fun and well polished.

Particle effects are also fun.

First suggestion I'd have is to not have the turrets block the mouse. I couldn't figure out how to repair the ship because I kept clicking on the guns instead of the ship section underneath it. I think changing that would fall under the allowed bug fixes.

Second suggestion would be to make the GUI text more readable. I couldn't read how much currency I had most of the time.

Aside from that I really loved this game. It's an interesting concept and gameplay style that's easily approachable.

Pretty fun while it lasted! Some more variety would've been nice but otherwise I have no major complaints. Art is simple but fine and there is sound and feedback on everything. One thing I noticed though is that if you build a cannon on top of an existing one you still lose the money, same with repairing a non-damaged tiles (although misclicks could be part of the game I suppose). Is there anything to the tiles with spots on them?

A really interesting game and it was satisfying when I had lasers all over the platform. But it took me a while to figure out the gameplay so little tutorial or explanation would be great. Would also be great to have choice to upgrade or buy new tiles as it got boring when all my tiles were filled with lasers and I didnt really have much to do except repairing tiles. And I didnt really understand why I ended up dying because I had a lot of money left and I had a very big platform. But otherwise, well done.

Had a good time with this one. It was fun watching my firepower increase as I gained more credits. It could definitely benefit from more variety in enemy and upgrade types.

I did have an issue where the UI in the bottom right obscured part of the play area, so I couldn't always see what side enemies were coming from.

Thought this was just going to be a very generic tower defense game at first, but i was surprised by how much the ground being destructible changed things. Overall a very good idea I've never seen in the genre like this before. It's also nice that you added music, even a simple loop is always way better than nothing. The SFX were perfect. I could see this becoming a full game with some more content and some polish. Good job!

Does the game end at wave 15? I suddenly got a game over once I got there.

Anyway, this game works pretty well, and is fun enough.

In terms of strategy, there's not much you can do after you cover your whole rock with turrets except repair as quickly as you can. The early game is pretty challenging, but once you get 7-8 turrets on the board, it becomes pretty unloseable.

Still, it's pretty satisfying once your defenses start working well. Nice game

Ended up with a final score of 73050 with 30 tiles left. Not a bad little tower defense game. I felt that the explosion volume felt a little loud against the background music as it became overwhelming towards the end, so much so that I turned it off. The controls could have been implemented slightly different with keyboard shortcuts and highlighting of the options so you knew what it was you were working on.

With a bit more polish, variety, and upgrades, maybe some other setups, this could be an interesting tower defense style of game.
