Nice entry pal. I'am also in Löve about the graphics & sound (and engine of course). I note few missing hitbox and sometimes I guess it's more the gameplay but unfortunatly sometimes not. But keep it up really like it ! Old style TV is really present nice !

I chuckled at your description :'D
Though I didn't play, it requires to download Love2d or something?

@grhyll Thakns! And yes! Sorry for not providing a binary, but you literally just need to download Love2d first and open it once, then you can open an .love game :)

@randdir thanks :) yeah, box2d was probably too much for this, might've been way easier to do it without any physics.

when you collide with a wall you just stop in place, because of that i couldn't complete this room.
game feels quite nice, but physics are janky. also i couldn't figure out how to gain height when jumping. it has something to do with speed, but works 50\50. and to gatekeep a player from progressing until he gets the not-so-obvious core machanic without any directions is not good.

@idk-what-im-doing Thanks. Yeah physics was a totally wrong decision for this one, but initially i wanted it to be different, but ended up not having enough time to polish it.

I tried to give hints "not all bricks are bricks", because the last brick in that area is passable basically :)

This has a nice vibe and I like the rounded CRT look you used - it's very appealing. The physics make the game incredibly difficult though. It's too sticky and too slippery at the same time. The player seems to clip into the ground and become slowed very easily.

@crunchykingcobra thank you :) totally agreed, physics is kind of weird, kep thinking I'll have enough time to polish it and balance it out but never did. Shouldn't have used physics at all for a simple platformer.

I like how made a game which fits the theme very well. I also like the handheld/arcade look. Good job!

As others have already noted, the controls could need some more polish. Would be great to compare this version to a version without that "floaty" feeling. Maybe try to remove the character accelleration and make jumping more consistent.

Nice game, it has good ideas, has good looks, but the unresponsive control is frustrating in segments where jump accuracy is required.

This is so haaaard :') I ended up giving up at the level with the moving blocks since apparently I have to move at the exact same speed to stay on it, and after five minutes of failed jumps on the previous level I just couldn't x) Awesome look and music though, strong vibe!

The screen distortion really adds something up to the game, creating a retro aspect which is completed by the music and the sounds. However, the controls are very clunky, making the precises jumps really hard to do. Also, when in stair type scenarios i got often stuck in a step while trying to jump higher. This is, however, the only aspect that i find that really affects the game as a whole. In every other aspect, is a nice experience. Good job!

Hey, so the controls are wacky and it is very difficult to enjoy exploring in your game. Level design wise the last room was not so bad when, after a few attemps, I realised that all the blocks (that I was affraid of previously because I couldn't get a grip on how to navigate properly in your game) could help me navigate more or less easierly when I could manage my jumps and such.

I'd really try to improve, first, the movements of the player: walking feels inconsistent because of the glassy effect (try to make the player stops more or less when he stops pushing the button or else he will get frustrated for nothing), jumping feels inconsistent as well because we don't get exactly when it's higher or not.

Also, collision are not perfect (sometimes you can't jump because you're too close to a block). But that's forgetable.

Having difficulty in a game is far from a bad thing, when it's thanks to the level design, but having difficulty in a game because its gameplay is clunchy, is not so pleasant (imo).

I felt a I Wanna Be The Guy vibe unfortunately when I would have wanted a Tower of Heaven or Celeste vibe in this plateformer.

The art was nice (although the character seemed not scaled at all with the environment, even at the end), the TV effect very cool (keep that, play Katana Zero to enhance and pursue this idea), the music was nice although repetitive.

And overall the vibe is cool too. Well done :)
