I really like your artstyle. And I had fun with the UI Buttons. I dont know why but the sounds are hillarious. I think you could have added something mechanically to spice the gameplay up. But over all a solid entry.

Loved the mood of this game, especially the How To Play instructions xD
Sadly I didn't get very far as I'm not very good at platformers, but great job!

Fun game but the food towards the end should fill up the stomach more as the rate of depletion was way too fast for both stomach and lungs

@yang The meat doesn't fill more of the bar BUT it does spawn like 9x / 8x faster than the beginning :)

Great work! The art is fantastic (even more impressive when you consider the time constraints) and the music is very good, too. Clever game concept :)

That was really fun! It got very stressful towards the end as the monster got more hungry and needed more air :D It was fun too giving it too much air. Lots of good humour in there too (like falling down the pit :D ). Really great stuff!

Really great concept and execution. I really love the art and the humor. Music is also really great. However, I have one critique, The movement feels a bit too floaty and has caused me to fall to my death multiple times. Still, its a really great game.

How to play was funny  Took me a while to get what I have to do, but after that it was cool. Is this actually possible to win the game? My monster always dies of starvation.. By the way, buttons sometimes don't work as they should, when the screen lightens. You have to click them a few times to work, otherwise the game just comes back to the same screen. Cool submission!

Also, I liked the graphics, but not the font - kinda hard to read.

@sandra-jasionowska Hi sandra, I'm glad you liked our game :)

To answer your question: YES! It is possible to win the game :)

Also I thank you for reporting the bugs that you found, it's a great help for future improvement.

Cute and funny game. I liked the art and the funny instructions. Falling seemed a little slow and the screen wraparound had me accidentally falling in the pit several times (I see why there's a whole pile of bodies down there). It would be nice to have a little timer showing how long there is to go until the success screen.

So maybe the scientist should think about getting a different pet because this monster is super demanding and Colonel Farnsworth has a chicken express space delivery to run. What if he needs to go read his mail, doesn't he know there could be someone trying to get a very important letter to him?!
Excellent artwork with a fun story and easy to grasp gameplay mechanics. Nice idea to include a few different ways of failure and especially enjoyed the "how to play" section!

The game was pretty fun, but it took a while to understand. The graphics looked nice, and I loved how you had more than 1 end screen. Great job!

I love the art style and humor. I would love to see more occupational hazards. I thought the death screen when you fall into the pit was very clever and it would be great to see what you can come up with for other death screens.

Pretty damn cool! The tutorial was quite fun way to do it even though I enjoy having it more interactive while playing much more. But that's a one way to make a wall of text less boring.

Would have been better if the timer ticked down to more tell about the actual objective. I almost quite after my first decent run of almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds. I guess I was like a second off since that seemed to be the magic mark though.

Cool to see that you added a fail state for pumping too hard too. Didn't encounter it but I'm guessing there is one for over feeding as well? :meat_on_bone:

Didn't quite like how the meats spawned in completely randomly. Would have made more sense if the hooks came off screen with one or without it. It was quite fun to try to find out an optimal place to throw the meats so they reach the alien with too much hassle. But since you need to pump some air constantly too, it didn't really matter much and you could just throw them on the obvious platform closest to the pump. These two things made like 90% of the whole playable area completely pointless.

Maybe if something spawned on random platforms which you had to retrieve too would force taking advantage of the whole level more. Wouldn't be too hard to come up with another bodily requirement for the alien dude.

I was positively surprised to notice that you can carry more than one meat at a time. Noticed it completely on accident when a meat spawn right on my trajectory. Knowing this made the game a whole lot easier since you were never in much of a rush to feed and could mainly focus on just gathering the meats and pumping. Then when the hunger was getting dangerously low, you could just chuck them all at once. Would have been cool to visually know how many meats I was carrying too. And Mashing ctrl too fast kept cancelling the already started throwing animation which wasn't fun.

Quite solid controls. I must say that ctrl+arrows is a bad combo for macs since it cycles between desktops. Well I knew about it and knew to be careful about pressing them together. Luckily didn't need to throw my meats on the run that much. Alternative keys would be cool, decent classics to compliment left control could be X or C, not Z so much because of AZERTY keyboards). And some weirdos do prefer playing with WASD even when there is no mouse functionality at all. I will never understand why but they do. I would have liked to see the menu keyboard controllable too.

The sound scape could be enriched a bit too. Some sound effects were kinda missing. Grabbing meat, landing from a jump and maybe even a subtle footstep sound. Maybe the alien could make some adorable alien noises at random instead of only making the same eating sound. And other ambient stuff like that to make the game feel more alive.

Anyways, I think I've rambled enough. Good job!

Nice work, guys! Great art, the right dose of humor and controls very intuitive. The How to play screens are as good as the game itself! ;)
I enjoyed playing and watch the different endings depending on who dies (doctor or monster)... hehe
The music is good and the noise hovering the buttons is hilarious. At first it made me curious about the sound effects used in the middle of the song and than I realised I was the one making those noises with the buttons. Good one, again.
It kept surprising me and compensates the apparent lack of innovation when the theme "keep it alive" is simply put to work with a "keep the monster alive". Don't get me wrong, I liked the game a lot, but it looks like you invested in the first idea that came to mind. It was very well executed, but it felt like you could do wonders together and aim higher than this.
Congrats!!

@fabrito first of all thank you for your feedback :)

Even tho this wasn't the first idea that came to mind you are right: we did all we could to keep this simple. It was a conscious choice due to the fact that this was the first time we worked togheter as a team and, most importantly, for someone it was the first game jam ever.

Considering all of this we decided to go for the simplest possible Idea and keep the scope of everything as low as possible, of course while trying to make this as fan as we could :)

A really cool game! Fun mechanics, and fitting pixel art. I found the ambient music really good, but the unharmic and metallic trumpet irritated a bit. But still, a cool an polished entry, especially considering the start screen and fun tutorial

A tight game that was well executed! I like the little details in the animation, like the monster sagging near the end of it's life. I wish the "purpose" of the game was a bit more obvious because it got a bit repetitive after a while and you weren't really sure how much longer you have to keep feeding/ giving air. Fab little game! - J

Great little game! Lots of polish! Great Graphics and sound! However, it didn't feel winnable. Had I known I could win, I would have played for longer. Also, there was the small bug with the timer missing a zero. Overall a really good game jam! I really enjoyed. - S
