Made for Ludum Dare 45.

It's the annual master wizard chef competition! Wizard chefs from all around the globe compete in order to be ranked the new 5-star master wizard chef.

Contests race race to select their top of the line weapon to help them out in the ingredients dungeon.

Unfortunately, you get trampled and before you can get up all the weapons are taken. Looks like you're going to have to start this challenge with nothing.

Great game! Nice graphics and love the two types of enemies, lot of diferents chalenges. One thing I noticed, you always atack to the side you are facing, I find more intuitive when you can atack aiming to the mouse.

This is fun, although, I couldn't tell if leveling up was making me stronger or not? Also, I agree with @guilb that in a game like this, you should attack in the direction of the mouse, not in the direction you're moving; _especially_ given that the mouse button is used to attack. Regardless, it's a good looking game with some nice variety.

Though, did you mean to say "Made for Ludum Dare 44"? Shouldn't that say "Ludum Dare 45"?

@guilb Thank you for your feedback. Attacking towards the mouse direction is a good suggestion.

@philomory Thank you for your feedback. Leveling up increases your max health but it can definitely be hard to tell and would ideally have both done more and would be more clear if given more time.

Thank you for pointing out our copy-paste mistake, we've updated this page and Itch.io to say Ludum Dare 45 correctly now

This is well done! Nice

I agree with what others say in that clicking for the attack was strange, maybe a quick fix for that would be to change it so you use a button instead of the mouse (then your game would be keyboard only which is nice too!)

Other than that... maybe some SFX would have been nice on the hits?

I also echo previous 2 comments- expected to be able to move backwards and still keep slashing in the same direction (though, after the first few times, figured out you can just tap-attack-strafe). The tomato monsters were pretty challenging- I never got consistent with it, but I like that theoretically you can ward off or even reflect the projectiles back (maybe have the projectiles just reverse velocity when they get hit?). I thought it was cool that your attack state/animation would freeze when you dashed so I'd do a joust attack-dash with the broom.

Lots of potential here, was pretty fun :D

I couldn't get my character to move in the Web version in Chrome. Trying in Edge. Ah, that worked. Fun game. I had a little trouble figuring out what I was supposed to do at first. I eventually found the sharp knife, and then I explored some more and found the master chef, who wasn't very hard to kill (I was up to the level-up costing 2000, not sure how much stronger that makes me). A couple technical things - enemies would often get behind my health bar, which made them hard to see and to hit; the attacks of the vegetables often didn't land, even if it seemed like I was getting hit; it was hard to do anything other than click when confronted by lots of carrots - i.e., no strategy other than taking damage until they were dead. But I liked the drum soundtrack and the really cool art, and the dungeon-crawl mood. Very neat game.

Cute main character. Difficulty ramps up quite a bit but becomes manageable after some upgrades. Attacking was a bit odd with it being based on which direction you last moved. I think attacking should be based on where you click since enemies can move fast and attacking while running away can be difficult. The boss was also surprisingly easy

A really underrated game (pun intended), I genuinely don't know how you don't have 20 ratings yet. I played only for about 10 minutes but it's a pretty solid game.
For me the player controlls are a bit too floaty, I'd prefer a faster velocity decline after player stops/changes the input but that's a minor detail overall. The next area of improvement would be sound effects and general juice when you hit the enemies or other things happen.

A little finicky but fun overall. I couldn't tell if levelling up did anything at all. It sure didn't feel like it.

I like the story, graphics and the game idea. The used music is okay, but it did not really fits the gameplay. Overall is this a pretty good jam game. Well done.

Cool little game. I think an increase to the knock-back would make the times that the enemy just swarm you a lot better. Pretty awesome game.
