How about watering a little flower? It should be easy, shouldn't it? feel free to share your best score.Mine is 112

So I did an update and took into account what you said. -I made a 'safe zone' around the plant where flames can't spawn, I added an Invincibility time after you get hit, multiplied by 2 the time before a lightning bolt spawns and made the background darker for better contrast.I'd like to add a life bar to the plant but i'm not sure I'm allowed to do that because the compo time is over now.however, you can see its "state" with its color. The darker it is,the drier it is.

really fun game! glad you added mouse and keyboard! the plant should give a couple more visual clues instead of just yellow to dead but still i enjoyed playing this and you should feel proud of yourself :)

I dig it! I can't seem to get my score up but it's actually really polished and has great game feel! Liked it a lot! Also nice to play a controller based game on Ludum Dare.

thanks you a lot!I've just uploaded a new version with bug corrections. Now,It's even more polished!
i've changed the direction of the water burst when shooting wich was wrong, added the possibility to play with ZQSD,added a collision box to the plant and corrected the score display wich only worked on the game over screen.

Neat and simple. I like the look.

The audio for the lightning was a bit disorienting. Stopped at 100 as there seemed to be no progression past that :(

I love the art style. Great work! I think the lightning might better be served by having a tiiiny little bit more warning before it strikes. Well done!

I'm definitely not good at this kind of game. 19 is my highest score. I almost skip your game because I do not have a controller plugged in. Then, by reading comments I realized I could play with my keyboard and mouse. Maybe you could add instructions for this kind of control. Good work.

I love the dual use of the water keeping the plant alive while also defending it! Controls were spot on with both controller and keyboard/mouse. Surprising amount of nuance in the gameplay, I thought.

Nice graphics, and as a Hotline Miami player, I can tell that the game is entertaining

Fun simple game, cool that the water gun has multiple uses. Agree with other comments that lightning doesn't give much time to play around, basically forcing you to keep moving. Art and animations were cute, sound was solid.

This is really well done! I'm glad I had a controller already plugged in ready to go! That lightning is super sweet and an intense challenge!

The game has nice art and audio. An option to turn down volume would be nice. The text is a bit flat, adding shadows may help.

Simple and straight to the point. I thought the lightning was a little confusing but other than that there's not much to comment on. Good job! I got to 72.

It took me a while to find out how to play it. The mechanics are good, however the color are killing me. I'm colorblind and it was really really hard to play. I would go with better contrast, even if it reduces the feel of the heat.

Good engaging game, nice concept.. Keeping the plant and human alive.. Funny "game over", lol, and the lightning the so sudden is soo funny.. If something to be improved, please add time when stunned hit by fire/lightning, After my character get fire, he stunned, then get a lightning.. Overall, nice game buddy =)

Nice game, I would try to start with slower enemies so that the player would have time to adjust, especially when there are no instructions for keyboard and mouse players

The controls for the game are really smooth! I only managed to get to 56 :D
In general, I would say the sounds are very loud and stand out a lot, perhaps some editing can be done with that to make it a bit easier on the ears.
I also really liked the aesthetic a lot, it felt very cohesive and well put together.

Some specific notes I have:
- The lightning telegraph - hit seems too fast, I'm not sure if I'm just bad at the game
- There's not a very obvious tell as to how the plant is doing, perhaps different animations for how close it is to dying would help
- I noticed there were some black dots that hover around the game, I wasn't quite sure if they affected the gameplay or not because they deep black stood out a lot. If they don't affect the gameplay, perhaps their values could be toned down to seem more atmospheric.

Overall, I really enjoyed the game! :)

Haha my best is 88. Super simple concept but done pretty well, love the lil plant dude. I go hard against those mean fireball dudes. Good homemade art, decent concept, perfect execution.

Really good. I found the score text could be a little hard to read but it wasn't completely unidentifiable. The sound effect worked really well for this. My only major complaint is that the yellow you use for your itchio page is horrifically bright and hurts my eyes quite a bit. I get the whole desert thing but its detracts from the game play for me personally.

The concept of trying to keep a plant alive in a desert is pretty funny. The really shouldn't be able to spawn so close to the plant. Some of instantly hit the plant after spawning.

I agree a lot with quichi's feedback above - the lightning strikes were hard to predict and I couldn't tell how my plant was doing (doing shooting it heal it? I noticed sometimes it would make a sound when I shoot it...)... I like the dots that fly around personally, I think they give the game some background visuals to look at. Grats! (My score was just 66 lol)

Nice entry! Good approach to the theme and gameplay is pretty smooth. Sound effects were nice. The lightning strike was a bit of a surprise and got me a few times without me even understanding what was going on, but after about 3 hits everything made more sense hahah great work!

Really good little game for a young developer. Respectfully, I am impressed by your work which you did in less than two days. The main gameplay fits with the theme and it is fun. It seems to me that it is too hard to predict lightning. Sometimes, it is a little bit frustrating. Overall, well done ++

Thank you! The Lightning falls fast near the player (not totaly randomly) because I didn't want players to stay next to the plant and just always water it.You just have to keep Moving to dodge it.Sorry, perhaps I should have written this somewhere sooner.

Very nice game, feels complete ^^ I really like distinct mechanics that players have to keep on their mind. The only thing I would change is the difficulty curve - it goes from easy to very hard (near 100 points) pretty violently... Oh, and I managed to get 140 points ^^
