Makes for a nice mood and atmosphere for the game. Maybe I didn't understand the computer mechanic all the way, but I wish you could type or pick lines of code to manipulate how the game is played. I enjoyed running to the computer to see what the next addition was.\n\nA couple criticisms:\n\n1. An early upgrade to player speed would be nice, as running all around was a bit slow.\n2. A way to modify the computer's code or rearrange things would be awesome. I wanted the game to be as friendly as possible to people unfamiliar with programming, so if I were to expand upon this idea, it would probably be very minor.\n\nMy best idea right now is to \"group\" snippets of code together into disks, and then you would be able to enable or disable each disk within the computer.\n\nThank you for playing!","likes":3,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"DecadeDecaf","author_uid":"1139021","time":"2020-10-05T20:48:22Z","epoch":1601930902,"modified":1601930902,"text":"@dinoraz @diefleder\n\nAppreciate the feedback! I'm open to hearing any nitpicks, even if they're very minor.\n\nI agree with the criticism that the difficulty doesn't ramp up enough. During development, there were more increases to enemy stats, but I wanted to avoid making the \"upgrades\" feel unsatisfying, so I replaced them with more interesting things. In retrospect, I should've made the golden enemies harder than the normal ones; I think that would've helped a lot.\n\nThank you for playing!","likes":3,"format":"md"},{"author_name":"UkuleleFury","author_uid":"1138962","time":"2020-10-07T03:52:05Z","epoch":1602042725,"modified":1602042725,"text":"Very fun! Like others have said above, being able to manipulate the code in some way could've taken the game to really interesting territory.\n\nIn any case, I found it enjoyable enough and did finish it. Controls were tight, and the progression was reasonably paced, especially to make that final gag hit. I thought that the use of discs was a clever system to allow the user to slowly but surely increase the difficulty at their own pace. It would have been nice to see said disks be used for allowing the player to customize their experience more, but for what's there, I really appreciate the purpose it holds.\n\nPresentation-wise, I did think the game was bit on the weak side. For starts, I felt the slimes came in a bit too slow, making the initial portion of the game feel pretty long and arduous. Some common polishes, like screenshakes and hit-stops, weren't used in the game, which I thought was a shame. I also think the game could have used more variety in the sound effects department. And I would have liked to see more dialog! The random prop NPCs at the bottom of the level were pretty cute, and I would have liked to see their conversation tree evolve over time.\n\nStill, an enjoyable experience for what's there.\n\nhttps:\/\/youtu.be\/6mjxeFKXq_8?t=6766","likes":1,"format":"md"}],"format":"md","images":["ld47\/212312-d374edcad912439cc13d2b4a2ee7eea8.png"],"links":[{"url":"https:\/\/decadedecaf.itch.io\/break","text":"Youtube"},{"url":"https:\/\/github.com\/DecadeDecaf\/break","text":"Youtube"}],"metadata":{"g_key":"59517","g_author":"1139021","g_event":"LD47","g_eventkey":"76","g_subevent":"COMPO","g_urlkey":"270820","g_title":"break","g_status":"PVT1","g_place":"85","g_commentcount":"17","g_site2_node_id":"212312","g_hide":"N","g_has_icon":"Y","g_rqueue":"0","g_random":"0"},"nds":{"n_key":"212312","n_urlkey":"270820","n_parent":"212256","n_path":"\/events\/ludum-dare\/47\/break","n_slug":"break","n_type":"item","n_subtype":"game","n_subsubtype":"compo","n_author":"139021","n_created":"1600202660","n_modified":"1601795110","n_version":"663791","n_status":"COMMIT"},"node":{"id":212312,"parent":212256,"superparent":9,"author":139021,"type":"item","subtype":"game","subsubtype":"compo","published":"2020-10-04T07:05:10Z","created":"2020-09-15T20:44:20Z","modified":"2020-10-04T07:05:10Z","version":663791,"slug":"break","name":"break","body":"> A mysterious machine appears overnight.
