Round Trip by DarkRoasted

[raw]
made by DarkRoasted for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

A small Arcade style game Keep evading the obstacles to eventually escape the loop.

More of an attempt in game dev and a learning experience than a serious submission but I want to share it anyway.round trip.png

YES! Love it! Simple, but fun. Graphically not the creme de la creme but this game has something I always really appreciate in any game, solid gameplay. It's simple, and to the point and I love that. The easy part of the game took a bit too long for me but once it hit 70 and the walls got tighter (really good addition btw) I was really feeling it. Good job!

Okay, but some more variation would be nice.

U should make spawning level in the loop a bit more discreetly, but it is a nice game

"Honey I'm going to be late, I can't find the exit to the stupid round about"
this is how my childhood friends taught me to hate round abouts before I was even old enough to understand how driving worked.

I think a little more art would have been nice. Add a road texture to the the ring and turn the cubs into other cars.

Completely in the theme, but quickly boring, let's be honest!
Repetition, lack of challenge.

For the realization, it's quite correct, even if some textures would have been nice.
I don't know if it's easy, but slighty turning the car when you use the keys would give a nice feedback to the player.
Add bonuses, speed, moving obstacles, cut the gameplay into levels of 1 min.

It's nice to see a new participant! You'll improve over time if you keep at it, so keep on learning!

Thanks everyone for the contructive feedback! I actually wasn't expecting anyone to play and rate this game ^^ Maybe I will update it in the future to make it more enjoyable. Anyway, now I'm motivated to keep going with game development :)

Obviously a simple game but I had fun and what was implemented worked well. Some nice things like hiding new level spawns (spawn opposite side or something) and such would go a long way but well executed :)

Nice way of tackling the theme. The game still needs more variation and better game feels(try searching youtube about that). Overall, nice work, stay motivated.

@junior23419 I see what you mean. There are actually many things I'd like to improve in the game but these would be beyond "bug fixing" so it can't be done in the scope of the jam. But I might make an updated version in the future.

Liked the music, a bit repetitive gameplay but the handling was good! Nice work!

A really nice and simple game and a solid entry. My only suggestion is to make a car turn like a normal car and don't just slide, it will make the game harder though.

I made it to 47 btw :)

Great job! :D

Your implementation is very interesting. I believe that you can be able to develop a great game if you keep working on your project. It's cool to speed up and avoid obstacles. The sound and graphics are ok. Congratulations on the work.

Good game deving, keep it up! I though the obstacles getting tighter was a nice touch.
