(Hey, future friends! Fair post-jam warning here. I just wanted to stop by for a second and note that this version of the game is quite bugged; and it does not at all reflect how the final product will look or play.

The intro sequence in this build of the game was not configured properly on our end- so just know that once Mot says "Yes ma'am.", the tutorial is finished. You can then choose to either skip the rest of the dialogue, or read all of what was supposed to be Mot's interactions with Angie!)

On July 24th, 20XX, a young moth named Motti submits an application to work at Lucca’s Underground Farms and gets accepted as an employee. Weeks later- taking place 3 days after your birthday, play as the teen moth Mot Harlow as you begin your journey solo as an underground farmer in Houston, Arizona.

LAMPCHASERS is a survival management game made by an experimental Ludum Dare Mega Team named Team LIYAVERSE. The team consists of 10 developers and was formed by StudioNOVEGA in the time span of 5 days.

As an additional challenge, composers were limited to a pre-determined sample pack containing drums, basic sound waves and three Super Nintendo soundfonts.

I have experience working with a crowded team in the jam and I learned that it's hard so good job guys. WebGL version is quite sluggish, I will play again when the desktop version is available. everything is great but I love the music

I love the art and the music! But I had some bugs where the characters and plants become invisible and I had no Idea what was happening, I suposse it was the HTML5 version. Anyways it was fun. Good Job!!

The sound was the best thing of the game, really helped the atmosphere.

@toxicon Thank you about the art! And yeah, our apologies; submission hour got pretty rough.

There are a few known bugs right now- including an issue with dialogue portraits not changing, and tutorial dialogue not functioning properly.

Dialogue is actually supposed to end considerably early, but as of now there is a bug where the tutorial dialogue siphons straight into the lore dialogue (which almost doubles the length). We're currently working to fix it now for those playing the game in the future, but we hope in the future you will consider giving our game a second chance!

The music is really good. I enjoyed it a lot. A bit too much dialogue at the start, but other than that I think the concept is neat and so is the art.

I really want to like this game; the graphics are cute, the audio and setting are fun, and the gameplay is just the type of thing I'd like! However, there are a few things that made it very difficult to play.

It took me a while to figure out that the shop "right there behind" Lucca was actually invisible in the distance at the back of the cave. I restarted the game and went through the extra-long, unskippable dialogue a second time to try and figure it out.

If you're holding an item and cancel before placing, you lose it (whoops, restart, I destroyed my lamps).

I got 2 lamps up and planted some flowers, and went to buy more. I spent all my money on flowers and ran back... to see my lamps and flowers had been destroyed by a weird black thing I seem to be unable to do anything about. At this point, I chose not to restart again.

@michael-horst thanks for leaving this detailed review! your feedback is much appreciated and being talked over by the team. I’m glad you like the concept, audio, and graphics! we worked hard creating a nice atmosphere for the player. we figured that kazoose’s shop would be tricky for new players to find, and this confirms our suspicion. thanks for reporting the bug you encountered of losing your items, we’ll have to look into that. I’m sorry that the experience wasn’t quite what you wanted, but the feedback we are receiving from you and others helps us to work to improve the game in future updates/releases. Thanks for the thoughts Michael!

The graphics and aesthetic of this game are fantastic! I liked the bit of world building. Despite the tutorial i was still confused about was going on and almost immediately killed all my flowers because i had not put a light down first lol. A second run I lasted much longer, but the shadows just avoided all my traps. Also, the goose said some things that were a pox upon my eyes lol. Other than that, fantastic!

I like the overall style! Those shadow creatures are really cool. Really nice soundtrack too. The main issue I had was not really knowing how to fight those creatures, other than traps. They certainly wrecked my flower farm! And some glitches here and there with the main character displaying. Nice work to the team tho!

Audio is great, super cool character designs and visual overall. Gameplay idea is pretty cool. Would love to see more games out of this wacky universe.

I do like the 2D sprites in a 3D world combo. The characters are realyl well drawn as well. The only downside is that the excitement curve starts to ebb a bit after I had placed each plant type available in the shop once and succesfully used a trap (I think^^), but for a jam game that is more than fair =)

Holy cow, that's a big team :) Any chance for a post mortem, including how to do team coordination in 3 days? I'd go insane.

To be honest, not much to say about the game: beautiful, moody and awesome audio. From the screenshots I had a Don't Starve feeling, when you go down caves, but after playing I notice it has nothing to do with it.

@splitpainter I would actually like to do a post mortem video. If I can get input from my team I'll include that in the post mortem.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack and artstyle here, I could not figure out how to get rid of those naughty gigantic bug things that kept eating my lights! Apart from them, the mood was calming and I enjoyed being in the world you created :)

A very moody and very beautiful entry! I think I encountered a bug with my first attempt as I skipped over a lot of the tutorial, apparently and thus was a bit lost. Here's my stream from last week featuring the game:
