Pluses :
- Simple and rewarding gameplay. Not being able to move freely was disorientating at first, but I think it was an excellent choice
- Fun upgrades
- Good difficulty curve, it is actually possible to see a lot of the game on the first try.
- The graphics and the sinking animation <3
Possible improvements :
- Maybe add a (one-use) alternative to the cannon in early-game to prevent the player from dying early
All in all, excellent game ! One of the best I have rated so far.
I'm leaving this comment and then I'm going to play it again x) !
The gameplay is awesome, and it's really nicely done and polished.
The theme is respected, the art (animation and audio) is perfect, the mechanics are simple yet fun and addictive.
Well done !
It quit turning and spawning mines, so I built a funnel.
It's a great game, I thought it was a little hard until it stopped working right. Visuals are amazing, great concept!
Also a super current topic in this great-garbage-patch era.
It's actually both unusual and interesting not being able to move the character but having to wait for the garbage to come in your area.
Beautiful aesthetics, very polished and lots of fun. Congrats :D
As others have said, it's got a really nice atmosphere and a solid visual style.
I most enjoyed building my craft and seeing it become it's own beast over time.
There were a few pathfinding bugs that were a bit annoying- when trying to build some things the character ended up walking into the water, and if he was in the water when the thing was done building, he'd drown and I'd lose the whole ship.
Still though, it was very fun to play, and I appreciated that starting over was never too much effort, since you're immediately put back how you started.
The cannons were also sort of unclear to me, I couldn't work out what their range was exactly I think? I ended up getting blindsided by a random cannon raft my first runthrough, and subsequent playthroughs when I'd set up cannons in response to mine alerts I ended up getting mine'd anyways.
Really though, even that wasn't a big deal, I was never too frustrated, and that's what kept me going to build a better more defensive raft.
Still though, this is really awesome work, and already worth selling as it is- I really hope you guys expand on this game and release it!
Could really see this becoming a full fledged title if you add more progression!
I love the slow ramp-up of this game, and the slow learning about the way all of the mechanics interact. The way hazards destroy parts of your raft and how cannonballs can be blocked by other fixtures you have set up...it all felt very natural. All in all this is a super well-polished game, nice job!
I wonder how you managed to make it in such a short time! It looks and sounds amazing. I quickly realized that there's not much to do, but everything works as it should (in my opinion). The only problem for me is the inability to destroy buildings or move them (but I understand that this is a lot of extra work). I also thought there was a little bit of balance missing, but for jam everything is done very well. Great entry!
