It's a fancy ass picnic, and you're invited!!! Well, not really... You're just sitting here trying to eat some veggies and some fool is tryin' to kill your ass! I tell ya man, the world is harsh.
So it's up to you, keep Mr Buzz alive!!!
Uses only a mouse... haven't tried with a trackpad yet, but the mouse is almost certainly WAY better :)

This was a solo effort, everything from scratch. Sounds were entirely me and a microphone and audacity. I adore doing sounds for these events, but have to say time got away from me and I have several other funny audio things I just didn't have time to script, BUT... I'm really happy with how this plays.
Some cool design notes:
It's SUPER imporant to remember that your score is the LOWEST of your four scores. Pick your nibbles wisely! :)
If you yank the mouse quickly too far, the fly takes flight, which makes you invulnerable for a second or two, but you miss out on valuable eating time.
Similarly, if you "run into" an attacking arm/swatter on the table after it hits, you'll also take flight, again, losing eating time.
I give you a slight delay before impacts will kill you, to keep it fun.
Oh, and eating speed ramps up over a few seconds, so it's beneficial once you start eating to stay still as the rate increases.

The smashed fly was very impressive.
i loved the sound effects, i'm gonna have to try that in a future jam, one of the few games where i feel confident actually giving a humor rating
overall this was pretty fun, got a score of 17
If I had to make it more involved, I'd probably try things like giving you fixed "phases" of a specific time to survive in, so it's a taste of victory often. Then maybe upgrades for performance? Different levels having different ratios of food, some food having a smaller limited lifespan, etc... so just "make food more interesting".Also perhaps sticky areas that have food in them, but make you slow down a bit.
Also, I'd consider attempting to make eating a function of rapid clicks, so it's more baseline interactive and you might feel more tense if you're actively doing something while being nervous about the next attack.
Just brain dumping though... Mostly I try to make game jam games easily digestible and quick. I know so many people have such short attention spans, haha. :)
