The Boy On The First Floor by Kwarf

Description

This game started out as a perhaps somewhat over ambitious game idea, where we wanted to create a dungeon crawler of sorts, where you would go deeper and deeper into a dungeon made up of small, but memorable floors.

We ended up incorporating the theme by having the dungeon loop. Once you reach the last floor, you will loop back to the first floor, but with a twist! Can you manage to break the loop?

Controls

Walk on W/A/S/D or arrow keys

Attack and interact on space

At first I though the music was kind of weird and didn't fit. But then, when I entered the actual dungeon, it was amazing! On-point.

Nice game! The end boss seemed to be impossible to pass hehe!
I was able to get past the door without the key though.

I'm not sure what to do after getting the key...

Game looks nice, music is good too, combat needs some improovement tho, and maybe break up the repetiviness somehow

I (think) I finished it! I couldn't figure out how to deal with the twist boss at the end, was it defeatable? Really fun game though, lots of polish and I enjoy the super-low res art style.

@nardandas The end boss is defeatable, but it's difficult, and it will only show you an end screen with stats of your playthrough. I would say you came close enough ;) Thanks for playing!

@seskon The repetitiveness is kinda intentional. You are stuck in a loop, you know ;) Thanks for the feedback and for playing! :)

@znurre Ah, I might have to try it again. I also meant to mention that I opened the key door without the key, I don't know if that's a bug.

@nardandas That is most certainly a bug. Thanks to you and @hyblis for reporting! :)

Hey ! I think you could increase the range of the attack, it's pretty frustrating to hit enemies and get hurt in the process, especially if it's mandatory to kill them.
I also think the camera is a bit too close to the player but that's personal I guess.

The music and the graphics are really cool, good job !

The game is quite hard due to the fact that you have to get really close to attack. Furthermore, the graphics could have more pixels, as sometimes it's difficult to discern what is what on the screen.
I liked the music, and the gameplay. Also I liked how you adapted the idea of the loop.

A lot of feedback has been said above so I will not repeat the same, apart from that the game is really beautiful graphically the colors and the environment gives a harmony to the eyes.
Well done, very good game with a little more improvement it could be perfect.

@linetaru As the author of the graphics, your comment makes me very happy. Thank you! :)

Nice dungeon game!

Here are my feedback:

_Positive points
- Neat and coherent graphic art style
- Cool music and SFX
- Good dialogue system
- Clever usage of the theme
- Several types of enemy

_Negative points
- Imprecise combat system: hard to see exactly where I hit, the animation is too small, and it seems that the box collider is a bit small
- Stuck on place when attacking => Suggestion: you should allow the player to move while attacking, like the classics 2D Zelda, I think that it will speed up the combat system

Overall: Really nice work!

Nice work! @edalbung seems to have covered any feedback I would give.

I really like the art style, never seen anything like it before

It's a very original game. Graphics are great. It's short and it fits with the theme.
I think there's a bug. You can open the gate without the key.

the music and art are really nice. the attack is a little hard to use. I wish we had a wide view of the level, because, in the boss, you end up having to dodge bullets in a split of second. I like that the levels are small, but I wish it had a little more stuff going on.

What a nice music. The view port was too much zoomed in for me, I always like to cover more area. simple mechanics and good looking sprites. good job
