The Treekeeper by Rkuhl

[raw]
made by Rkuhl for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

In a magical land of fairies and chicken bushes, you have been assigned a tree to protect. Ever since you were born, your parents knew your destiny. Gifted a huge sword by a bee in your infancy, you were placed among the many to be trained to protect those trees that couldn't protect themselves. Try and protect your tree, but don't forget to stay alive in The Treekeeper.

How to Play

Try to keep your tree alive by maintaining its resources. Keep it watered by stepping in the water and then running to the watering can. Make sure it gets enough food by hitting the bushes to get chicken to bring to the tree, and make sure it gets sun by keeping the palm fronds at the top destroyed. You can get upgrades for your tree by hitting the fertilizer on the right.

Good graphics and sound! I liked the clean gameplay, just had some very minor difficulties when trying to water the plant for the first time. Nice entry!

Fun game, and nice audio too. I felt there were so many moving parts that I had to keep track of it got a overwhelming a bit too quickly on my first play, but picked it up pretty well the second time

Hey! That was really creative. I liked the art! I after a while I felt I had gotten pretty good at it, I was multitasking (kiting wolf opening light and water. Good project, one of the better ones I have seen on the website today. :)

Nice game, interesting mechanics, albeit a little weird! Slashing bushes to get some chicken in order to feed a tree, lol!

Fun game! I liked the upgrades, but it wasn't always clear what they do because of the icons. Maybe add a little description.

Good job completing this and bringing the concepts together. I couldn't get the brown instructions box off the screen, so it blocked a lot of the gameplay. I wish the sword bounced the enemies back so I could keep them away from the tree better. Good work!

Overall enjoyable. It's true that you spend the whole game spamming left click at some point but nevermind. The idea of having spot to chose where to go is really clever, i would have like that smashing the bags could randomly give you item instead of every wave/enemy killed. Really good job
