Oh My Hamster by LuckyFeathers

This is Oh My Hamster
Hamsters are populating a .... ring, torus, loop? Well, whatever it is you have to help them raise a civilization. Simply pick them up gently and drop them where their little fur bodies can be of good use. Hamsters can do anything from generating power for faster navigating, to coming together to create a luxurious five star hamster hotel!

Everything was made from scratch except that we used Hans Zimmermann's 'Dream is Collapsing' from the movie 'Inception' as outro music. The rest of the audio is made by us though. There is a post-jam version which was uploaded the morning after the jam was completed and includes minor bugfixes and a proper ending.
We use a custom mouse cursor in the game which doesn't work well unless the game is fullscreen. Thus, there's no WebGL version. Sorry about that! There is a download version for all operating systems though, but we've so far only had the chance to test the Windows version.

An unexpected ending with charming music
Friendly control and cute hamsters :)
Well done guys!
I loved how relaxing the game is, it's rare to find a city builder in a game jam, and the looping world is a nice spin (pun intended) on the theme  The tutorial makes it easy to understand and the gameplay is very intuitive. Great job overall, only the UI looks a bit wonky!
Btw, we also made a hamster game with @baylej if you want to check it out :hamster:
Ring looks much smaller than it actually is. It took me some time to complete first full rotation looking for hamsters to power plant.
Art looks awesome. Hamsters look like real things with those animations :) Some background music would add a lot.
Let the Age of Hamsters begin!
Cheers!
I don't like so much that we have to build some hamster wheels to increase our speed rotation in the world. It is so fast at the end, you better don't eat before playing, lol !
This a prototype, but for sure there is a way to make a good casual game with this ! Congrats for what you've done.
Is that song in the end from one of Nolan's movies? Anyway it's epic :D
I thought the process of picking the hamsters up and placing them in their required spots was entertaining and I could have kept going. I felt as though I was building a community of hamsters. It was a very pleasant experience. Once that was complete and the ring began to roll, I then realized that I was preparing these hamsters for something the whole time and I was excited to see what it was. I was not disappointed.
I would have liked to see more rolling mechanics to make that challenging. Something along the lines of dodging obstacles. Another note is there was quite a few overlaps of the environment that didn't seem too fluid. There were a few moments when you went through the environment.
Overall, this was fantastic and I would definitely love to see where you could take this!
EPIC.
Good work Lucky! I quite enjoyed the hamster mechanics and how the game became less of a grind the more you levelled up - felt rewarding.
