The Turtle King is starving! Go get him some food. Oh, and there is also an enemy invasion going on, you should be able to handle that, Right?

Pick up your bow as the (apparently) only available soldier to guard the king, and repel the invasion of the eagle empire! But as you know, the king is a hungry one, so make sure you don't mess up that aswell.

INSTRUCTIONS!

Protect the king!, his health runs out quickly so he must be well fed, defeat enemies to get food.

Move with WASD

Aim and Shoot by clicking on your Mouse

Press 'SPACE' to perform a Dash and avoid damage.

Touch a Burger to grab it, CLICK to throw it to Feed the King!

Defeat 40 enemies to win!

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Our take on the theme was overall a straightforward one based on protecting a defenseless(or maybe just lazy?) character, but with the food concept which allowed us to mix two different mechanics in a challenging gameplay loop that encourages the player to multi-task.

Great game, great animation, and fantastic art. The theme seems to not have a great impact on the overall project though. But everything seems to work the way it should so good job!

One of the best looking games, incredible how you got it all done in such a short amount of time. I would have liked the game to be a bit harder or maybe greater diversity in the enemies.

One of the nicest looking games i have seen today.
I like seeing self made music, however it stopped for me half way through the game. maybe it is not looping correctly? Anyway nice aesthetic and funny story.

I love the cartoon style and the animation, very fun idea to make a bd in the start of the game. A little pity that there were only 2 types of villains but soooo fun.

Funny game! I like graphics, idea, controls, the little story before the party and the part of commands explanations. Continue like this! Maybe add more dificulty by a survival mode with more enemies through waves with more type of enemies and food.

Really funny and the difficulty ramps up nicely. It's very well equilibrated. Shooting ennemies and feeding the king, is it a metaphor of office work ? I imagine it could be expanded further with more ennemies. Well done !

Really fun, nice balance and use of the theme. One progress bar for both the hunger and the hp is a good idea, and I just love the artistic direction and character design (the king animation is very expressive and fun). And it was just frustrating enough to be so slow, but hey, it's a turtle ! So good choice too ! Nice overall, good job !

Super cute! Has a good difficulty curve, and feels super polished. There was some slightly glitchy behaviour I think with my player - freezing in place a couple of times was the main one. Almost like he was celebrating his victory prematurely. :stuck_out_tongue: I also think that the boss' health bar might be positioned a bit incorrectly? Or maybe it just looks strange to me, I'm not too sure.
I think that the end sequence could have used a little bit of flair, but was still really cute - and the intro sequence is amazing, that's some great work there.
I found myself not using the dodge very much, but I reckon I probably would be in a larger implementation of the game. Awesome work!

Many of my arrows hit the boss (First game about 6 mistakes :sob:). ~~I though he didn't know that was me, even for the 5th arrows~~ .

@it-farfetchd Thanks a lot for the feedback! We tried to put a lot of attention to detail in the character animations, and while some things could still be improved I'm glad to hear it still feels polished!. Also we'll be looking into the movement issue you mentioned.

@a-312 Oh no!, Hahah, yeah being able to hit the king is a bit cruel but we ended up liking the idea of having 'friendly fire' to make aiming more involved. Thanks for playing!

Visuals remind me some old cartoons from the 90's and it's pretty funny to play. I like that I can kill the king!

I LOVE this art. I felt like I was playing something on Newgrounds :heart:

The gameplay was pretty simple but really fun! I shot the turtle king like 20 times :joy:

Unique and well-executed art, balancing both the enemies and the food was fun! I like that you used the same controls to fire your weapon as you would to feed the king, so you could possibly shoot the king if you weren't paying attention, all without adding any additional controls. I enjoyed that you wouldn't lose if you got hit, you would just lose precious time. Great entry!

Great job! The gameplay is fun and the art is fantastic! One small change I'd make is that it's a bit annoying to be unable to shoot through the king, although that makes it more balanced.

The art style is really unique, it's what initially pulled me in to the game. The audio was also really good, I loved the music and sound effects, they go really well with the sligthly wacky art style, it all feels very cartoonish (in the best possible way).


I also appriciated the fact that you had included the story in an intro, it adds a lot to the game and makes it feel more like a complete experience.


A cool feature that you added was the fact that shooting the king was possible, it made me chuckle when I first accidentally did that. Though he cant complain on me too much since I did manage to win.

This was a really fun little entry, played until i beat it! Challenging enough to keep me entertained but easy enough to control and have some fun rolling around! Great job!

This is one of the most charming entries I have played so far! I love the animations and the fun characters!

The gameplay was mildly challenging, but not too hard so I got to finish on the first try; perfect for LD. It's a really good all-round package you've made here! Thank you for making it!

Audio is by far strongest aspect of this game - where there should be sound, there is audio feedback which adds to game feeling responsive to input. Nice job setting up premise with cartoon slides - always nice to know what's going on fictionally in a game. Only gripe - controls feel stiff and knockout time penalty a tad harsh.
