The timer lies. It continues for a few seconds after winning and all the others were clearly more than a couple of seconds behind me as I lapped them all.
It kinda reminded me of pocket racers from the Yakuza games.
Your game was way too easy though. At first it was pretty engaging trying to figure out how fast I could go around corners before falling off, but then I realized I just had to let go of the speed just before turning and it would work every time.
Some ideas:
make it so that you can't move through other racers meaning you have to figure out how to get around them by changing track or jumping over them
add more obstacles and different ways to avoid them.
Add a visual indicator of your speed tied to the animation. If you're going so fast that you're about to fall off, make the mouse look like its struggling to stay on the track during the turn.
Good job getting this made in such a small amount of time
The game play took a little time to understand at first when you fall of at sharp corners and you're spamming the move button but nothing happens, but it's just because you're not gonna move until the characters stop blinking. The less sharp corner did nothing but just redirect, maybe you could run fast through them but not at full speed for some more variety. Also would have been more re-playable if after each race, the competitors would be stronger, as there was no challenge once you understood the mechanics!
The art and music were great and with a some improvements, a real killer game, as it has a good unique concept!
One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)
Some gripes:
- Sometimes after running into an obstacle I seemed to run into a softlock where I'm unable to speed up at all and need to restart the entire game. This may or may not have to do with holding the up key while in the crashing animation (?)
- I'm a dinosaur here and my primary desktop's monitor resolution is....1280x1024. Your game stretches out to my second monitor. Please consider us dinosaurs for your next game. Thank you :)
