[raw]
made by Frozedon for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

SmallScreenshot1.png

In Feed The Furnace, you must keep the Furnace stoked and alive. You will frantically run around breaking chairs and throwing their wood into the Furnace. If it goes out, you're done for. But, you'll be racing the clock as the Furnace's demands get bigger and bigger.

Controls

Arrow Keys - Movement

Space Bar - Interaction (Break Chairs, Pick Up Wood, Buy Upgrades, etc.)

Upgrades

Put Wood into the Sawmill instead of the Furnace to gain Build Points, these can be spent to buy more Trucks or you can buy stuff in the Shop.

  • Boots give you faster movement speed
  • Clover makes increases the amount of Wood that drops from Chairs you break
  • Bat makes your swing deal more damage to Chairs
  • Glove makes it so you can carry more Wood
  • Conveyor gives you 5 Conveyors that you can place on the floor, Wood will move along them in the direction placed. You can always pick the Conveyors back up after you've placed them.
  • Auto-Smasher gives you an Auto-Smasher that, when attached to a Truck, will smash the chairs for you.

I can't make it past 10 limit. The time runs out so fast! :scream:
But very fun premise!

Very good introduction to the game and the mechanics. Nice effects for getting to the next milestone on wood. Very much enjoy the shop, but would be nice to know that it pauses the timer before you head in there. Very good game!

I enjoy the opportunity for tactics here add some replay ability. The art style is really cool though it can result in a few items being not very distinguishable. otherwise solid game would play again.

I usually do not like endless hiscore games, but this one is very clever and made me entertained for a good time. It is fast paced, sound FX are good and art is really nice!! Congratulations!!

I got to around the '60' point before i had to give up. I love this idea, and it plays super well and is very polished. The music is a nice touch, too.

Surprising amount of depth for a game jam game, very addictive. I love how sassy the shop owner gets when you linger around for too long. One of my favorites so far.

@joseph12 Holy cow, you got a lot further in than we ever did. Most the time we stopped at like 160-180

@nehvis Thanks, maybe we will keep working on it in the future, never know!

@trace He tells a wonderful story if you chill out long enough. He is the best feature.

@jungle Its nice to hear that it plays well even for someone who doesn't like this style of game!

Excellent game. I just blew an hour playing this thing. My only complaint is that it's not super obvious how to set up the conveyor belt. I accidentally set mine up taking the wood away from the furnace the first time.

I really enjoyed this. I have very little to offer in the way of criticism. The one thing that I would change is that the Autosmasher seems to act too slowly unless I was using it wrong???

The music was very enjoyable. It was a pretty well done game all around.

Wow, so much content for a game jam. It feels polished, I really liked the artstyle and the idea itself. It is a frustrating game, in a good way, if you know what I mean.

I literally stress when I played. 10/10, would chop again. :D

Very well done! ^_^

Nice one! Never would have thought I'd see someone else make a game about smashing furniture aswell, but here we are! Really like the atmosphere with that menacing music and black and white aesthetic.
