Definitely a lot of potential in the battle mode, the rest of it was nice to see but I think paled compared to what I thought the main attraction was.
The music was super-loud on my headphones so I had to turn it off.
Music is a little bit annoying, but apart from that you did really good job.
👍very cool
The TIC-80 looks like an interesting platform is it based on any kind of computer in particular?
@alex-mulkerrin TIC-80 is a fantasy console, I don't think it's based on any kind of computer.
The spacebattle is what made me love the game, what a fun concept. It could be tweak so that square (2x2) don'T bring you that much score as they are stable.
Maybe when you hit a live, check which "species" it belongs to ( if it belongs to one of the ship Extra point, if it belong to a stable no point ) otherwise some points !
Music is too loud, but nice.
Love the anedocte and the homage !
To solve 2x2 issue, maybe make shots explosive or piercing, but lower ROF? Or add a secondary weapon.
Btw, I also made a Game of Life gamification for thic compo, check it out!
Space battle is a fun concept and a great addition, I would have liked to see that expanded (though I suppose it's difficult to balance a cellular automata for games...)
You have made a great homage.
I also made a game-of life based game, but went in a different direction (multiplayer, on a persistent world). In a sense it's dual to your game since the nominal goal is to keep your cells alive and you play by placing cells rather than removing them.
Good job.
