Really nice stuff! I do think the space mode should be the default though, I see a lot of potential with that.

Great concept and polish, for example to run the game of life on the "you win" phrase was really smart and made me smile :)

I love the space battle mode! It's a great way of gameifying the game of life. Would definitely like to see more initial state patterns, random initial state patterns, and changing rulestrings. Maybe a "design your own opponent" kind of thing too.

Definitely a lot of potential in the battle mode, the rest of it was nice to see but I think paled compared to what I thought the main attraction was.

The music was super-loud on my headphones so I had to turn it off.

@munkkeli Thanks! The game is not very balance due to its nature, so I thought to focus on the educational aspect. Definitly would like to expand on the game play.

@motley Thanks for playing. My favourite part as well!

@kjscott Thanks for playing (sorry for the loud music). I have always wanted to promote Maths in an interactive manner. I do think the traditional gamifications of Maths aren't very engaging and felt forceful to play.

@pke1029 Send it to Mark Parker and Numberphile in general! They might have fun even if it doesn't get promoted by them.

Wow, that's a great idea!

Music is a little bit annoying, but apart from that you did really good job.

At first I was worried that "based on" really just meant straight up copy, but you did a nice new take on it, and I'm happy to see a new mode too! Well done!

An intelligent way to make a game based on just some mathematical rules, it really amazes me the concept behind this and I like variation proposed in the game

This was really charming! I like the battle mode -- it made it more of a game. Nice introduction to the game of life.

Really nice and original concept, I'm already tired of all those games where you need to keep the fire alive by getting more wood. Really innovational game this is, well done

Space battle in that programming's classic game is a great idea!! (even tho you're making the opossit of keeping it alive haha). Great job, the game is really well done, the graphics are really neat!

Hooray another game based on Conway's Game of Life! Really liked the collection of little patterns you had to explore (R-pentomino is a favourite of mine) and the spaceship mode was charming.

The TIC-80 looks like an interesting platform is it based on any kind of computer in particular?

Thanks to all the incredible responds!

@alex-mulkerrin TIC-80 is a fantasy console, I don't think it's based on any kind of computer.

This was great! Very nice little tribute, am I correct there was a cover of a Final Fantasy 8 song in there? It was great :D Good work!

Awesome! The game of life has always been a favorite of mine ! I must have programmed it over and over in every language.

The spacebattle is what made me love the game, what a fun concept. It could be tweak so that square (2x2) don'T bring you that much score as they are stable.
Maybe when you hit a live, check which "species" it belongs to ( if it belongs to one of the ship Extra point, if it belong to a stable no point ) otherwise some points !

Music is too loud, but nice.

Love the anedocte and the homage !

Liked the art style and Space Battle mode.
To solve 2x2 issue, maybe make shots explosive or piercing, but lower ROF? Or add a secondary weapon.

Btw, I also made a Game of Life gamification for thic compo, check it out!

Screenshots AND GIF capture??

Space battle is a fun concept and a great addition, I would have liked to see that expanded (though I suppose it's difficult to balance a cellular automata for games...)

This game is amazing, I love how you made every detail. I didn´t knew Conway passed away this year :(
You have made a great homage.

Hi, I really like this game, particularly the space battle idea.

I also made a game-of life based game, but went in a different direction (multiplayer, on a persistent world). In a sense it's dual to your game since the nominal goal is to keep your cells alive and you play by placing cells rather than removing them.
