Knock, knock... Boooooo by FussenKuh

Knock, knock...

Honestly, I didn't think I'd be joining this Ludum Dare. Thankfully, I was able to carve out a few hours on Sunday to piece this micro 'game' together. Knock, knock... Boooooo is what you get when you have less than 5 hours to create a Jam game.

Relive your childhood with this classic knock, knock joke. Can you break out of the loop? Do you want to break out of the loop?!? Yeah, you probably do. Be patient and I'm confident you can succeed!

  • Start the game
  • Break out of the loop
  • Profit?

Developer Notes:

Overall, in 5 hours I'm happy with what I've accomplished. Is Knock, knock... Boooooo an instant classic? Probably not. But, if nothing else, it shows the power of quality development tools. In just a few hours, I was able to cobble something together that isn't too terrible.

I learned some new (to me) Unity techniques, made my first Shader Graph shader, and brought a new game into the world... I'd call that a win! I'm looking forward to checking out everyone's submissions :)

Although the gameplay is lacking, the graphics and audio are nice

Nothing to say really, you cleaned the table. Left the game with a weird grin on my face :smiley:

Apology accepted from a color blind guy! Eventually made it through (with some help). This game has it all packed into a classic. Physics, particle effects, sound effects, and colorized code IDE spice up this old-school Knock Knock joke! Great investment for 5 hours!

Congratulations for making this game !
104 seconds to break out the loop :sunglasses:
Very weird but funny !
It lacked gameplay but it was too short to get bored :wink:

The sounds and bouncing cubes are super satisfying! **191.17s to break out of the loop** :)

That is 114.89 seconds of my life I am never going to get back :)

This is actually a running joke in my house with my kids (although we do banana and orange). So now the kids come up to me and say knock knock. When I say who's there and they say banana I just glare at them and they laugh.

I really loved the music and the way that the green cubes disappear. Cool stuff.

@nikos - Game play lacking? GAME PLAY LACKING!?!?! What more do you need? There's something you can click on and... ummmmm... you can then click on it again... and again!!! That's top notch game mechanics, right there! :wink: Seriously though, thanks for playing and for the feedback!

@nethead - Glad I could make you laugh. Thanks for playing!

@tulipekoni - Mission accomplished! Thanks for playing!

@apbakeware - Thanks for playing and for the color blind feedback! The orange square does have an "O" written on it to make it stand out a bit more.

@wakobu - Thanks for playing! The game definitely doesn't have much replayability :laughing:

@fabdynamic - Thanks for playing and the feedback!

@minibobbo - LOL! I apologize for robbing you of 114.89 seconds of your life :wink: Banana and Orange are most certainly the classic duo for this joke. But, drawing a banana is far more time consuming than drawing a square :laughing: Also, it's fantastic to hear that this 'joke' is still alive and well in today's youth! Thanks for playing and for the feedback.

@dudum-lare - Thanks for playing and the feedback! Truth be told, green was a late addition to the game. To the point that @minibobbo made, the original color was yellow to represent the classic banana/orange version of the joke (though, I still had no intention of drawing a banana). The yellow and orange squares were a bit too similar in color for my (slightly) color blind eyes. Thus, green stepped up to the plate!

The game mechanic is what it is, but the various effects make this game oddly satisfying.

This was totally silly and funny. I really appreciate the little details like delaying the last square from popping for a few extra beats. Also, the music is pleasing and doesn't get annoying (considering how often it loops). Nice job for 5 hours!

```
public string voidsaysGameEvaluationAlgorith(string gametext)
var words=gametext.split(" ");
foreach(var word in words)
{
if(word == "void")
{
return "Good game it has my name in it";
}
}
return "Bad game it didn't even mention me once"
```

It has a pleasant style. Good that you didn't drag it out too much.

Nice, a little strange but still interesting. I like the approach you have taken. The sounds of the squares are also really satisfying. Good job!

Well done for whipping something up in 5 hours! I couldn't break the loop though. :face_palm:

Nice tune :) Not sure if this counts as a game, but I don't regret trying it :)
I would have liked being able to pick a green block a bit earlier before they all settled down, but that's not a big issue, really

Nice idea and a great interpretation of the theme. I was hoping for a little more of a puzzle element though!

@frank-gevaerts - Thanks for playing! It's definitely not quite a game, more like a mildly amusing thing to do on a loading screen for a game :laughing:

@lyje - Thanks! If I had more time, there may have been some extra time to make it into a more proper game with maybe a puzzle aspect or two :)
