3 Minutes To Freeze by blotosaur

[raw]
made by blotosaur for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

You've somehow survived a plane crash and you are now stranded in a freezing forest.

Rescue is coming, but you have to keep yourself warm long enough.

The only source of heat? You're own burning plane. Keep its flames alive and MAYBE you'll have enough heat to survive.

The snow tracks were my favourite part of the game - helped me navigate back to the fire, and see where I had already been. It kind of became a challenge to optimise my stick searching paths. Nice effort.

Snow tracks are awesome and works good on atmosphere and navigation. And those footsteps were giving some sense of flow

The snow tracks showing where I've already been so I remember which areas are all cleared out was a good touch.

Really nice execution on the theme here. I found myself getting overly greedy when hunting for sticks every tiem and barely making it back. The snowtracks are a really great design choice, it helped me navigate the deep woods without worrying about getting lost and left me able to concentrate on exploration and balancing my resources. Some warnings on the fire & body temp getting load would definitely help with balancing my time and keeping focus. Overall, really nice job!

Good game. Like the tracks left in the snow. It actually helped finding your way back to the plane.

Very nice game. I froze a few times before I figured out the right flow, the balancing of body heat and keeping the fire alive is well done. I noticed the fire bar would slow down as it got lower, letting me get back after collecting a few sticks without panicking. The tracks were also a nice touch and helped both to find my way back and see where I had gone before.

This game pretty fun, I almost made it but died at 10 seconds left. Loved the tracks you left behind that was a great detail!

Nice game! I like the graphics :)
It seems quite important to plan theroutes through the forest ahead of time in order to not freeze to death and also not leave behind single sticks. I hab the feeling that you need to collect all the sticks. However I am not sureif the fire burns faster if it is bigger. That might be an interesting mechanic. It would demand to find a trede-off between building time for collecting wood and conserving already collected fuel.
All in all good work!

Thanks for bringing your game by my stream for us to check out. If you'd like to watch again, the highlight is at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/617113692

I particularly enjoyed the effectiveness of the boots crunching on snow to set tone.
