All the same by Erkberg

[raw]
made by Erkberg for Ludum Dare 47 (COMPO)

A calm walking (and watching) simulator about cherishing the familiar.
All platform versions and source are available on itch.io: https://erkberg.itch.io/all-the-same

Cover.png

I had originally planned to put some more gameplay in by adding tiny platforming levels for each "item", but that turned out to be way out of scope for the jam. Maybe in a post-jam version :)

~ How to play ~
WASD / Arrows to move, mouse to look around and interact.
Be stuck in the loop. But keep your eyes open.

~ Tools used ~
Unity, GIMP, FL Studio, Rider, jfxr

~ Special thanks to ~ - my (remote) co-jammer Flo for brainstorming together and testing (check out his game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/escape-the-space-vortex) - my super-buddy Danny for being an all around awesome dude and testing - Jule for your love, support, and (who would've guessed?) testing :)

A very contemplative game. The background music is very atmospheric. I was missing any interactions with objects

Very chill, heart-warming game. I tried to activate objects by scratching them :D

This game goes down an artistic route that is so rarely seen in video games. It does a great job at it as well. Everything from the silhouette graphics to the sublte music were spot on for a game like this. It was relaxing, fun to discover. I left off wanting more but knowing that more would be too much. So well done and thought out. Great work!

This is absolutely **gorgeous**!!!

The atmosphere, the music, the writing. Beautiful! I prefer emotional over mechanically impressive, and I'm glad to have found another jammer that targetted that area!

Brings back memories of the end of Little Inferno <3

I really liked taking the idea of "stuck in a loop" and applying it to your game thematically. The music was really beautiful and I love how it reinforced the idea of finding pleasure in all the unexpected little details of your life. Awesome job!

This is unbelievably nice. It's so profound and moving... I really, really liked it. Something about deciding to return home to a smiling family was just wonderful :')
I liked the little detail like making the eye look at the mouse too. The art and music was gorgeous - top marks from me!

It was a very meditative and ambient experience, the sound design and graphics were on point. It made me feel happy and relieved! I don't know if it needed platforming levels, I think it's great just the way it is.

It was a relaxing experience, nice to play, however I miss some objects to interact. The graphics and sounds are well conected with the mood of the game.

This is absolutely gorgeous. Really drew me in, and the music fits the mood perfectly. If I had one minor point, it'd be quite nice to have some visual indicator of the mouse at the very beginning - after reading the instructions mentioning there was mouse control, I was convinced it was a bug that the pointer wasn't present until I hit that second loop. But otherwise, absolutely excellent.

Hi Erk, I enjoyed testing and playing your little game! It's got a good atmosphere and charming music+graphics, well done! The color scheme reminds me a bit of Welcome to Night Vale, now that I think about it. Small visual feedback on the cursor would be nice when you're looking at things, but that's just nitpicking. Oh and I looked at the timelapse video, cool idea with the hats :D
