Didn't finish this time. It's pretty fun running around and jumping/dashing though, so I figured I'd upload it anyway. Got a fair amount of work done but the scope was too massive and I ran into some show-stopping bugs which ate up a bunch of hours.

Also I chose to do huge pixel art and that's an awful idea if you want to get it done in any reasonable amount of time.

Controls:

Move: [WASD] / [Arrows] / (LStick)

Jump/Use: [Space] / [Z] / (A)

Dash: [Shift] / [X] / (RB)

Also for fun, some debug controls:

Num 7: Toggle debug mode. (Also DPad Down)

Num 8: Toggle fly/noclip. (Also DPad Up)

Num +: Toggle single-frame mode.

Num -: Advance one frame.

Sorry for people with non-qwerty keyboards. I've only got the key rebinding half implemented. :(

Unlucky not being able to get it done but the controls have a lot of potential and the art looks really nice. I'sure the game would have been great if you finished it.

The controls feel incredible, and the artwork looks so good. Absolutely keep working on this! the movement alone makes me want more.

The controls are really punch and sharp. I like the dashing art too. In fact, all the pixel art is sublime. Just need some thing to do in the sandbox! Would be super intrigued if you did a follow up to this post-jam.

Snappy as a Smash Title. Too bad you didnt make it in time. I really want to see if you will continue with this project beyond LD46. Good luck if you do !

The gamefeel is definitely good! It would have been a great game, but it already pretty rad for a jam project.

Looked promising! I've been there, not every jam goes well. Good luck in the future!

Graphics were great, sad to see it go unfinished, lots of potential here.

Shame you weren't able to get this finished in time, but still really impressive! The graphics are lovely, controls are good (although probably worth tweaking so the player only jumps/dashes when you press the button, rather than when it's held), and it seems like you've got a solid text/camera interface going. Looking forward to seeing the game that eventually comes out of this, great work!

Also for some reason the game downloaded *really* slowly (around 15kB/s) - might be worth looking into something like cloudflare for your server?

Hey @jsmailes thanks for the heads up. I thought I fixed that but I guess my provider was just garbage so I switched it to AWS.

Had fun with what you got made :) The controls feel really nice, and doing a jump-dash-jump-dash combo feels extremely satisfying to cross the gap haha. This felt great to play with both a keyboard and also a controller, so good job on that too.

Also, something often overlooked is the dialogue box and cutscene camera control. I think they both were done well, especially the 'roar'.

If you take this forward, I'd personally like to see the dash being able to be aimed, but that's more of a suggestion than a "it needs this" as what you have still feels great.

You didn't 'finish' but what you did, you did well :D

I really hope you'll continue this as it looks really promising and I can agree to your own statement in that it is very fun to just run around in the empty map

The platforming controls feel really good and smooth and the pixel art is superb. You could make a really fun platformer with these controls. Even though you didn't finish, this is still really promising!
