Time to Run by Joror

[raw]
made by Joror for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Intro

You have awoken in a strange laboratory...

Something has been done to you for a long time, and it was not nice.

It's Time to Run & survive!

What is this?

And action top-down fighter/shooter in kinda the Hotline Miami style.

Controls

  • WASD to move
  • Aim with the mouse
  • Left mouse button to attack or activate
  • Right mouse button to switch mode/stance
  • Q to let go

Hot tips

  • Switch modes! (right mouse btn)
  • Time-shenanigans are quantum, they don't always behave identically
  • Dying is not the end (Q)
  • Strength in numbers
  • Guns are so-so in close quarters
  • You can shoot yourself! (wait that's not a tip...)

Known issues

  • Dead bodies sometimes discombobulate if stacked
  • You can punch through walls, in the wrong way. (your arm gets stuck on the other side)
  • You might pick up a gun and not auto-draw it sometimes, because you think fists are cooler.
  • Guns can go fly off into space
  • Sometimes the enemies get bonked with the dumb-stick. Shoot them to see if that fixes it.

Nice game I liked the "physics" based fighting system :D But I cant see where I am stuck in a loop.

The game punished me when I made mistakes. First tries I just did not get anything and then my ghosts repeat my stupidity. Frustrating. It is also difficult to understand how to fight.

Cool game, and quite challenging. All my former selves were idiots and there were soon not enough guns for everyone.
Our game had a very similar mechanic, where you have your past selves to help you.

Very cool, i like how you executed this idea different than many other have. And it is not so easy. I also like the suspenseful background music. This game deserves more ratings.

I had fun with the game, the best parts were when I get killed by my ghosts. Solid game, with good aesthetics. My only real problem was the controls weren't explained very well, especially how to get the guns.

Nicely done. Great atmosphere. The movement felt a bit wonky though.

Good concept with the whole top down / reviving stuff. But I really didn't like the movement / punching mecanics. They felt really strange.

Hi, good job making the game! I love this take on the theme, where you get stuck with your clones. There were some bugs with the combat, but that is to be expected in such a short period of time. Keep it up!

Nice and original entry! I liked both the grapchis, the audio and the general atmosphere. It could have had a closer view and a more polished combat, but I enjoyed it ;-)

The atmosphere of your game is great. The music really does a good job of setting the mood.

Really cool game, I enjoyed it a lot. One thing that could be improved is to better distinguish the player character from the enemies, sometimes I was confused which one was mine.

Now that's a nice concept you got here ! Loved the time remnants you can leave behind to help you if a room get too hard ! Artistic direction is nice aswell, even though I did not always understand what was what at first sight : maybe having a more "obvious" color code would help (enemies in red or something). Really nice entry, I would have loved to play more levels :3

This was awesome! Super innovative with the clones not doing exactly what you do each time, and being able to play out alongside clones. If this was a lot longer, it would be even more fun! Some improvements could be making the player's rotation a little bit more snappy, sometimes it would take a few seconds before the player finally turned to face the mouse.

Short but fun, and the clones behavior not totally the same than what I've done adds something to the game. Well done!

Very interesting game. I liked the controls and the gameplay in general. The graphics are simple but very functional. The music is good too. Good job.

Cool game. I liked the monochromatic color scheme in general, but the enemies and player were hard to see against the background since most everything was the same shade of grey. Teaming up with (and sometimes accidentally killing) clones from the past was fun. The shooting controls felt a little awkward, it seemed like in order to aim I had to wait for my arm to line up with where I was aiming and it would sometimes wobble a bit before getting steady.

Pretty interesting! I enjoyed dying a crap ton just to build an army of myself. A few parts were confusing and an ammo system could be pretty interesting.

Great atmosphere and really interesting mechanics. I really liked the chrono-clones and I could imagine lots of cool ways of building on this mechanic. Quite short at the moment but a really fun and innovative game.

Nicely done and polished. Sometimes was a bit difficult to aim
