Snake by JoshyOshKenoshi

[raw]
made by JoshyOshKenoshi for LD34 (COMPO)
A simple, two-button version of Snake. I was a bit out of practice, and also had quite a lot of other stuff going on on the Saturday, so I decided to go for something relatively straightforward, but which fitted both themes.

In Snake, your aim is to grow as long as possible. You grow by eating apples, which appear at random locations on the screen. The game ends when you collide either with a wall or with yourself.

The left and right arrow keys change your direction.

A bit tricky playing it with just left and right turn and not the normal WASD. Got the hang of it pretty fast, so it was less of a challenge. Reminds me of many hours wasted in FastTracker II Nibbles :)

Nice take on the classic game. When blocks appeared adjacent to walls, it became pretty hard to dodge, but as a snake fan, nice job, :)

Simple, but yet really fun and great to play!
Congratulations, that's really the kind of things I like to see in LD!

Well, it is a classic game I totally forgot when it came to the themes. Both themes covered perfectly, it's kind of cool. The thing is, within the time limit it could have been improved in 3 ways I somewhat miss:

#1 Whenever I see "personal best score" I want to see it grow when my actual score reaches it. Like those awesome arcade ports for NES and SNES. I want to see both the score and personal score grow at the same time. Without that, snake is just not the same. xD
#2 Visuals.
#3 Music.

The implementation of both themes is 200% perfect nonetheless and I really respect that!

I don't like it when it is stuck on the wall. :( Controls are responsive. Congratulations on K.I.S.S.
