The mechanics are a bit unintuitive at first but turn out to be really interesting! The overall mood in the game was awesome, the graphics and the music fit in perfectly and really gave the game character.

The settings, the music and graphics really achieve an original mood, nice work!
The controls are a bit unfriendly, but can be intentional to make the game more difficult.
Really a nice work!

Excellent graphics, good work.
Would be helpful if you would upload the file in a more common format then 7zip though, not every one has it installed.

@thecze ah sorry that's a bit of an oversight on my behalf. I've added a zip version on itch.io; wasn't wanting to edit this jam page :) https://jimmudesu.itch.io/wheels-of-rage

Hey this was really fun! liked the graphics and mechanics. I found myself spamming the cards while low on fuel in hope of a canister being selected but ultimately ran out... Maybe fuel could appear slightly more frequently when you're low? I also thought the left/right cards didn't move the car as far as I thought they would, given the road is quite wide. But other than that it's a really polished game :D

Thanks @samboyer276 ! Yeah it could have definitely used with a bit more time to tune it all. We did manage to reduce change of direction abilities that pop up if you're on that side of the screen (i.e. if you're on the left, try to give the player more right abilities and less left) but we didn't think of tuning it for fuel that way :)

Very cool idea. I like games where just moving slightly left is an ability. It makes you have to think strategically. I felt that I didn't have too much control overall though, I saw that you mentioned not having time to tune it-- very much understood. Solid entry overall.

I liked your idea and the universe, made me think about the game Convoy.

However, I found it difficult to analyse each action available to me and the the actions of the ennemies at the same time. Maybe that's what you were going for.

I would increase icons readibility or make it that either some movement skills or some shooting skills are always at the same place. Just to have something immediate if the player has to quickly react to.

Another option is to make it turn based...

Anyway, good work!

@jonathan-lorenz thanks for playing! Yeah if we'd had more time, I think we would have had the enemies show what ability they were going to use above their heads before using it. Turn based could also be an interesting idea, perhaps having it as a separate mode or a ability that makes it turn based for 1-2 abilitiy card uses!

Cool music, great graphics, and an interesting take on the endless runner! With a tutorial, an explanation for what the powers do, and you'll have a good prototype

@juice-lizard Tried a quick port but there seem to be shader issues so unfortunately not a quick export :(

Very nice. I've read how you made your music and it was fascinating. The end result sounds very nice!

The game itself is great! It really felt like an interactive version of Mad Max Fury Road! Awesome vibes! Avoiding obstacles and bullets and shooting enemies are quite many tasks mixed in together and it felt a bit overwhelming, though. But nonetheless a very solid game.

At first I thought this was going to be one of those game where your selection was limit and you had to learn by trial an error like "Whoops, I guess I went the wrong way even though I had no way of knowing nor am I given the option to move to the opposite direction" but then I saw that the actions change as you use them. Definitely challenge which makes it unique too.

Probably my favorite game I've played this LD, well balanced, not too overwhelming, but a good challenge. I think it would work well on mobile. Awesome work, guys.
