Clound loop by Glayson

[raw]
made by Glayson for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

There is no title screen, because there is no beginning. There is no finish line, because there is no end.

Cloud is a guy condemned to repeat his own steps. Every mistake and even a jump robs him of his own progress and the chance to reach the end of his path. And, in each action, he fears that the end will be just one more lap in a loop.

EDIT: making the game too hard and the description too poetic was my sin. the accordance with the theme is that don't matter how good you play, time runs out or you go back to the beginning.

fun little platformer with challenging jumps. abit too slidy on the landings for me though.

Solid platforming(with slight problem of getting inside of terrain though)
A bit too hard to my liking, so didn't finish, as such didn't really understood the connection to theme,

Fun platformer! the last part was a bit frustrating though, but nice overall

I like super meat boy type games, although I am bad at them. This one is no exception - I couldn't get past the spike-chimney thing, but I had a fun time trying!

Solid platforming. Controls are very good. Good job!

I like the challenge of some of the jumps, but it feels a bit too slide-y. If the movement was a bit tighter, I think it'd be a much better game

It seems like the jump is not working well, it sometimes doesnt jump at all...(maybe i just didnt notice something) But the enviroment was good, with the 3d background giving it a nice look. The acceleration and friction were good as well, and beeing able to pick a lot of speed feels very nice. Unfortunately, i didnt get how it fits the theme, but i belive this is my fault

The platforming is fun, but its very icy! I wish there was a bit more friction.
Nice graphics and animations. I like the look of the spike traps too.

Nice platformer. Controls feel a little bit floaty/ unresponsive at times though which made some sections frustrating.

nice plat former! i love wall jump! i think that a little bit more of control in the air would feel nicer!

The animations are very pleasing and the movement seems pretty smooth. I am not great at platformers on the PC so I did not get far the 5 or 6 times I tried. Great job for a first time jam though!

This was definitely tough! I got to a huge open area with no tiles so I assume that was the end, it sent me back to the beginning. The physics are what made it difficult, but the platforming was well thought out.
If I were to suggest changes, it would be to make it less slippery, and to make spike hitboxes more forgiving. It felt like luck whether I would hit a spike or not, especially on the long jump.
I like the clean simple look and really appreciate the platforming design. The last portion was super fun (The winding falling portion was my worst nightmare XD). Awesome job!

Pretty fun platformer! I think I got to the end after a couple tries, I ran off the map and it started over.

The hitboxes of spikes are bit too big, which leads to frustrating moments of not feeling like you hit them but you died anyway. And sometimes you got stuck in the ground and walls, which makes precision platforming unpredictable.

Challenging game! I dig the aesthetic and the default Unity skybox actually fits perfectly haha. Took me too long to get passed the first obstacle but after that things clicked into place. I think the control could be tightened up a bit (I found myself falling off walls semi often, but maybe I just suck :P).

I came across a bug where I could walk on spikes in this area. Also, for some reason I couldn't play in Firefox.

Great job on your first jam!

Thank god for save points! I got as far as the stairs where every other step is spiked, before I was sent back to the beginning for running out of time. Some people like this kind of hardcore platforming. I'm not a huge fan, but I can see platformer people liking this. Just add a death counter, an option to remove the timer for casuals like me, and maybe a bit of story. The story can even explain why there's an ice world, which lets you keep the lack of friction if you want. Well done!

Nice game! The player definitely needs some better deceleration though.

A little slippery, but the wall jumps felt good to me. Regular checkpoints definitely came in handy. Well done!

It look like a super meat boy. I don't feel well the theme. And the control is a bit stiff. (The jump have a small latency) in this kind of hard game, the character movement must be very precise. Anyway. It's working, and a honorable entry for a first jam entry.

i appreciate the celeste like gameplay, player movement and jumping was pretty hard to get used to, felt kind of sluggish somehow. having some way to eventually break out of the loop would have motivated me to play more. good job for a game jam!

i got as far as:
