The Soulkeeper by Camilo Quintero

[raw]
made by Camilo Quintero for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

The ghosts are hungry for souls, but you, the Grim Reaper, know that their time hasn't come yet. Only you can stop the ghosts from taking the people's souls. Possess objects that are on the park (trash cans and cones) to destroy their traps! and slash the ghosts with your scythe. WASD/Arrows to move. J to attack ghosts. Hold K to possess (cones and trash cans) (take them near the traps to eliminate them!).

Nice graphics and animations. I didn't find how to properly play the game. Are supposed to grab object with any key ? Thanks !

Overall really good entry. Blowing up ghosts feels very satisfying. The only issue I encountered was that sometimes ghosts would spawn right next to a human and instantly kill them, which felt a bit unfair. Enjoyed the game, well done!

Awesome concept and really impressed about all of the art. I didn't really understand what and how I can objects with "K" and often I couldn't do anything to stop the ghosts from setting down traps because they were that fast. Maybe there is something that I missed to get rid of the traps

I found it tricky to control the player character, but I like the graphics & the original idea & gameplay. :)

I loved the gfx, it would be nice if a timer or an indicator shows the next spawning ghost's location.
I couldn't understand what to do with the k button.

It's a really nice looking game. The music really fit the tone.

I especially liked the posession mechanic. It was really smooth.

I found the game too difficult. It felt like the ghosts were placing traps right on the people, and the ghosts move too quickly. So there was a bit of a helpless feeling.

I found this little game really charming! From the graphics to the sounds and little soundtrack, this was all around really well done! Nice job! Never quite figured out what to do with the 'k' control, but aside from that, it controlled really nicely and stayed fun the entire time!

I really love the graphics and art direction you went with for this! All of the art is super cute - I loved the title screen and the skull in the top left. I had a lot of difficulty getting the possession mechanic to work, but the rest of the gameplay was fine without it!

The graphics are great and the gameplay is pretty fun. The audio was pretty good too. It was a little bit "too much going on" for me, but I'm not sure if it's the design or it's just my lack of skills hahah
Nice entry and great work!

The gameplay is pretty good! The only feedback I have is the control scheme is a little odd, even though its not that bad moving from mouse to keyboard in the transition from main menu to game is awkward. Good entry!

Really good graphics. And fun gameplay. Had some troubles with the controllers, until I found the instructions in the menu. :)
Well done. Impressive work in 48h.

Really gorgeous looking game!

I like that t's a bit different to other games out there because you need to keep multiple people alive and not just one!
I have to admit it took me a while to understand how to possess objects (probably my fault) but once I understood that I could last longer.

Really cool overall :skull:

Interesting take on the theme! The game does get a bit monotonous after a while, but it's a really neat idea!

The art is great, very impressive for a compo entry! Loved the model and animations of the main character, as well as all the other models in the game. The gameplay is fun but was a bit too challenging for me, couldn't keep up with all the things happening on the screen. An ability to heal would make it more user-friendly.

Really great job!

The controls were a bit tricky, but it was a fun game when I got used to it. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was losing control over objects you possess after you disable a trap, and the object then being able to kill people. Dying from running into a cone or trashcan seems unlikely. :D

The graphics and audio are great and the style is coherent.

I like the gameplay, it's challenging but once I got the hang of what to do I felt like I was doing well. The Instructions were a little confusing but once I started playing I figured out the mechanics. One nitpick I have is that when you possess and object and then move it to destroy a trap, it 'unpossesses' the object, so you have to run over to it to move the object out of the path before a human walks into it. Other than that the gameplay is a nice, well executed challenge. Nice one!

Very nice game! The art and music were great. The first couple of tries I didn't quite understand how to play (despite reading the instructions, so it might have just been a lack of comprehension on my part). Once I figured everything out, the game got pretty easy, and I ended up having to just quit out since I wasn't losing anyone, so it might help to have the difficulty ramp up more over time. Overall, nice game!

I love everything about this game! The graphics, gameplay, and audio all were very good, and I had a lot of fun.
The only thing I disliked was there was no way to heal. Maybe for every 5 deaths or something, you got back a life?

Good graphics and music. you've done a great job. In my opinion, it would be worth integrating instructions at this level. And I would also add the opportunity to replenish the life of the main character
