Charming little Metroidvania. The controls are pretty tight.
The Bazooka is f*cking OP^^

The art is beautiful. The gameplay is very polished. It's amazing that you've got so much stuff into a Jam game. The music fits perfectly, just like the rest of the sounds.

What has cost me the most to see is the theme of the Jam. I have not finished understanding the "stuck in a loop" in the game. Maybe I haven't played enough.

Still, great job!

Great platform shooter with polished art and gameplay, however I feel the use of the theme was a bit limited.

This started out feeling like Contra, and ended up being a Mega Man. The levels weren't broken, which is surprising considering how complicated they seem. The power ups got me excited. And the enemies were just intelligent enough to pose a threat without slowing me down too much. The boss fights were cool. The controls were tight. The only issues I had were with the maps not telegraphing what was going some basic things like picking up items. The art was fantastic the mechanics design was awesome. I just had a blast, thank you so much for the game.

I am sorry, but I was not able to play the game properly, because it was laggy as hell. I assume it was an issue on my end, since other people were able to play it, so I do not take it in consideration. Anyway, because I couldn't play it, I will rate you only for graphics and music, and for those two I must say that I love both so much. I wish I was able to run the game properly, because I really love the atmosphere.

I liked it.
Aiming felt harder with the smooth camera, but overall the shooting felt good. Nice sounds!
Areas could be more varied, but I understand the tedium of laying out a huge map isn't acceptable for 3 days...
And there is a huge fall that's really frustrating, but I guess with that backtracking it fits the theme ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@iluvatar did you try the download version ? did both windows and webgl been laggy? We know WebGL can cause some freaky issues on chrome sometime and massive frame drops on some machines.

Graphics are sweet, especially the lighting on the guns when you shoot. Dash and double jump felt great. The balance of the guns could be tweaked, but for a jam they're all really impressive! Sometimes the dash felt unfair - maybe when not moving left/right, the player will dash towards the mouse? Audio added a lot to the mood. Very fun to play overall.

Thanks for sharing, and I really appreciate you going out of the way to add a downloadable version for us internet-speed impaired individuals!

Heya! Thanks for submitting your game to my stream twitch.tv/drjavasaurus. I had a great time playing it. Really enjoyed the mini-rogue-like aspects. I am very glad you've told me about the extra weaponry so I could still find it, really cool. Very nice, tight controls ! Well done, a joy to play.

Good game, I didn't find more than 1 card per run (played like 3 runs). Visuals are good. I like the random elements. Controls and movement are solid. The camera smoothing threw me off sometimes. Had to lower my volume  The rapid fire bots didn't give me many counter play options, just shoot until one of us dies.

I don't think the theme was well represented, but the gameplay is solid! Good job.

Great looking graphics and animation and very smooth gameplay. My only complaint was that it is really hard to finish (or maybe I just suck)

Good game, but very unbalanced: some guns kick ass, some feel like peashooters, some enemies are easy, some feel like boss fights. Pixel art is consistent. Good job!

A little too hard for me. And the fact that you start all over when you die (no card kept, no weapon, all the robots come back) made me try only twice.

+1 to don-tnowe who told that aiming is hard because of the smooth camera.

Overall, a nice platformer/shoot game. The hard passages where you have to jump+dash are fun. But then, you fall in a hole that brings you back to a place you were before and you have to redo a part of your way.

+1000 to you, who correctly handled the key mapping. I do not have a qwerty keyboard, and every time I see that controls are "WASD" I curse the entire world. In you game, the direction keys are still "WASD" even if the letters "WASD" are not on the usual places.

Nice graphics too.

Cool gameplay and very snappy controls. Like someone said above, it's another metroidvania style game. The game longs for minimap support. Some weapons and enemies felt unbalanced a bit. I've also seen that you randomize the loot, which is cool. Now, maybe it's just me, but I have found the animations very jaggy, lagging a bit and not being fluid (for playet). Dont know if it's the fluid offset of camera movement, maybe it's something with the animation. It's hard to explain but clearly visible.

Overall, very fun and polished entry!

I feel like I should be enjoying this game more than I do. The music is great, the visuals are good, the controls are nice, but somehow it's just not clicking. It's a lot of little things, I think. The camera feels a little too zoomed in, and the platforming is a little too precise, and the level design is just a little rough around the edges, and the enemies are a little too annoying to deal with, and it takes a little too long to reach a goal...

Not bad. Cool idea and cool graphics. The weapons are quite nice and add a lot of variety to the game. Overall quite good, just a little rough around the edges - the camera feels kinda constrained and the movement feels jittery, but other that that pretty nice.

Pretty solid entry overall. The graphics and music are both pretty sweet. The gameplay feels pretty good for the most part, the guns are fun to shoot, which is always a plus. The platforming definitely feels a little iffy though--some jumps are just a little more precise than I would expect.

I'm probably not too familiar with the genre conventions so this might not be very helpful but: I really couldn't figure out a way to engage in combat with a lot of the enemies without taking damage. If there was somewhere I could hide I could usually duck there and shoot, but sometimes it seemed like I needed to be in the same space, and at that point there was nothing I could really do. But perhaps that's intended, as I said, I'm not too familiar.

I also think the way that enemies are invincible when off-screen just feels a little weird. I also wasn't too happy with some of the blinder enemies that show up in the top of your screen without any warning, but I suppose they do serve an interesting gameplay purpose.

Overall though I would say my impression of the gameplay is as very fun to play. As I said, the guns feel great, or at least the ones I got. So yeah, solid entry!

Aww this was so cute and enjoyable 😭 The pixel style is so nostalgic, gameplay could have been a little bit more balanced, but all in all very charming. Congrats!
