Bad Skeleton & the Time Police by waynetron

[raw]
made by waynetron for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Bad Skeleton has obtained a prohibited time machine device. It must be terminated.

How to play

🕹 WASD to move, mouse to shoot.

The timeline will repeat after you have fired all 6 bullets.

  • ⚠️ Do not shoot your past self.
  • ⚠️ Do not get shot BY your past self.
  • ⚠️ Party Skeleton exists outside of time and will not repeat across timelines. Be careful when you shoot it as it will no longer be there to stop the bullet in future timelines. And the bullet might continue on to hit another version of yourself.

This might just be my favourite yet! Such a simple mechanic and it gets you hooked right away. Loved it! Couldn't get more than 24 bones though

Well done! The concept is so straightforward and implemented so well. I think your audio and visuals pare well together and I think your interactive title screen is fantastic! I got my bone collection into the mid 20s, but with a bit more strategy and patients, I'm sure I could grow it much larger. I also liked the fact that I could time my shots to kill two skeletons with a single shot. Great job!

Nice concept, it took me a couple run to understand that friendly fire was a thing xD It killed me more than the skeletons.

Great concept, game gets difficult very quickly. I couldn't handle more than 4 copies.

This is a ton of fun, I think the party skeleton was a brilliant idea. The visuals and audio are a perfect match and suit the game well. Honestly no suggestions for ways to improve this, its a good design that was really well executed. I just wish I was better at considering the consequences of my actions before shooting the party skeleton.

Simple but elegant and well executed. I find I must agree with my fellow Vaguely Damp droplet on all accounts. Very well done!!!

This is an amazing concept executed extremely well! Trying to cooperate with your past self is such a brilliant idea, and I love how I often ended up being my own future self's downfall. The game also looks and sounds amazing, truly well done! My personal high score is 62 BONES.

You've obviously hit the nail on the head in regards to the *gameplay* and concept with this game. Every single shot has to be though over twice, and it forces you to try and predict and coordinate your movement in the future. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out an optimal way to ensure my past and future copies' survival. I ended up with a coordinated strategy where me and my copies arranged ourselves in a horizontal line and never shot directly left or right. The strategy was actually pretty successful, but luckily the party skeleton is there to act as a wild card that never guarantees any strategy is 100% effective. It bears repeating that this genuinely is an amazing idea for a game.

*Graphics*-wise, the game has a simple but really slick appearance. I love how everything is a bit wobbly, it gives the characters more life and makes the game feel a bit more playful and fun. In terms of *audio*, you've chosen sounds that definitely enhance the experience and makes shooting feel more satisfying.

Overall, this is a really well made game, and I especially loved the idea for the gameplay. There really isn't much to critisize, since the game doesn't overstate itself in any way. I do however hope you consider developing this into a post-jam version, since I'd love to see what other fun ways this concept can be explored. Well done!

Really polished for a jam game, impressive.
