Control Room by jsec

[raw]
made by jsec for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

As people commented that it is a little confusing here is my idea:

You control a human, windows are eyes Generator is heart and gives energy but uses oxygen (liquid fuel) Liguid fuel need to be exchanged via pump (2 square buttons) to greater out and breath in "fuel" Solid fuel is food, and waste is... well waste ;-)

Hope it helps a little bit. Thanks to all people that commented on this!

Fairly cool game. Font was certainly a little tough to read. Graphics and sound were nice, but it did get repetitive. It would have been nice to have a few more obstacles/powerups or something to keep things interesting. I made it to cycle 10 and stopped.

Fun to play. It gets really hectic as it goes along which makes for a fun time :)

I really liked the idea. I had considered something similar myself but couldn't wrap my head around how the game play loop would work given the short amount of time. Kudos for you figuring out an inventive way to do so. I enjoyed it.

Although a bit puzzling at times, mainly due to the confusion about what a button is and what is not, I like the balancing act you have to do. The art is minimal, but brings its point across just fine. Good work!

As mentioned, a bit confusing, the font is a bit hard to read and that the age is a different font, is a bit strange too, but awesome graphics!

Love the aesthetic. Confused as to how to keep the energy level rising? Button turned red and clicking other things didn't seem to help. Probably me. Good submission.

That's a simple but cool game ! It would be great to add some things as the time goes on :)

I got to cycle 18 and lost for a bug or something. I still don't know what the solid fuel tank does.

I made it to age 27. Instructions were a bit confusing but I think I worked it out. Good job!

I like the art style and the background music was in tune with the gameplay. The core gameplay loop is fun and engaging and you have plenty of room to expand with more actions for the player to perform. It gets hectic towards the end and you got a nice pacing to the gameplay.

The font you used was very hard to read and it was hard to read stuff fast. The STOP button for the Solid Fuel Loading window wasn't really explained and caught me off guard a few times. The low energy beeping was also a bit loud and could use some tuning.

Other than that you did a great job!

What a lovely innovative take on the theme. Great art, music and gameplay, my only problem is that I didn't quite understand how the solid fuel tank was operated.

I clicked the button STOP, When solid fuel loading window showed. Then I died at age 17. The view of windows seems like a view of different ages?

I had some fun. Didn't really understand it the first time round and died very early. Eventually made it to around 31 then my energy seemed to go down much faster than I could manage to click the button. Works really well to play on a touchscreen instead of mouse :). Also didn't look at the windows the first time round but gone back after reading the comments, I like it.

Cookie clicker version fuel/robot! That was fun to try to keep it alive as much as my mouse could handle! Well done! :v:

I absolutely love the concept. There is something almost cyberpunk about it; it gives me vibes of Hardware (1990 movie) and Mega Drive (music band) album covers. Those two window-eyes are awesome.

But I didn't manage to get past 8yo. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or perhaps the game behaves a bit differently for me. Do I understand correctly that I need oxygen to pump energy, but can't breathe in more oxygen until CO2 is all out? So essentially "click breathe in as much as possible - click pump energy as much as possible - click breathe out as much as possible"? It's too fast for me right from the start :/

@eldar Yes. Its basically exactly like You described. :D How much energy is generated is dependent on solid fuel level also, but try that is obscure mechanic, not explained at all.
Thank You for info!

Tere should definitely be a replay button after you die. Or maybe there was one and I missed it, but I had to refresh the page to try again.

A small and concise submission. I liked the art style you've gone with in this game. I do have to agree with some of the other commenters and say tha the font is a little hard to read. Great submission overall.

I really liked it, it was a bit confusing at first but once I understood how it works it was fun, the font was a bit blurry but other than that a really solid game. Pozdrawiam :flag_pl:
