YoYo - A Wacky Weapon Arena by PurrSum

[raw]
made by PurrSum for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Synopsis:

You're playing as a professional weapon tester(an obviously made up job) in a scientific facility. The weapon you'll be testing is a scaleable, spiked YoYo-looking saw. Actual weapon name: YoYo.

The thing is: the weapon is fractured. It can only make a few successful hits before it will require a repair, complete in a timely fashion.

CONTROLS:

WASD - Movement.

Mouse - Interaction(Left Click - Attack; Hold Right Button - Repair).

Shift - Run.

I got stuck after "you are dead" frame (see screenshot attached)

However - a really nice idea, and the overall impression is really good and smooth! Well done C:

p.s. I think that yoyo repairing mechanic gets a bit annoying, when you're in a small room with 3-4 enemies, and you can't really avoid getting hit while repairing. still really cool concept tho :)

Very oldschool arcady vibes. Great music and quite addictive!

I like the graphics and the feel of the game they are great. The game is a bit hard for me and the "ammo" of my shield is so little. Maybe because every enemies drain out my "ammo" and i had to reload every time a shoot and this get me killed. You can change that or slow the speed of enemies and give me more time to reload. The training room hype me up, but i can't use the moves in real fight/ Good Job! Thanks

This is so good!!! Everything felt so smooth and it was just a really fun game to play. The graphics and music were also fantastic, and the controls were intuitive. The yoyo mechanic was also a lot of fun, and especially on my 2nd time (I got to 13 the first time, but had to play a 2nd time to finish), it was fun to try and rack up a lot of upgrades early on before getting beat up in the 2nd half of the game. Amazing work!

A very very good entry. This game is super fun to figure out. The upgrades are really interesting to explore and exploit. The combat is fast-paced and balanced. Also captain america + jojo vs robots is hilarious!
