Description:

Play as a neutron and stop Johnny the stupid electron and prevent him from going too close to the protons!

Controls:

Click to place the neutron anywhere on screen to prevent Johnny from smashing into the protons! When changing the neutrons position it keeps its velocity and trajectory; so use that to your advantage!

Thank you for trying out my game! I appreciate constructive criticism! I also encourage posting your high scores in the comments! Here is my high scores for each of the levels:

High Score For Level One:

9 Points, 52.04906 Timer!

High Score For Level Two:

7 Points, 27.39061 Timer!

High Score For Level Three:

7 Points, 33.5216 Timer!

*Disclaimer: My high scores where editing into and uploaded into the post after the compo submission hour ended a little over an hour and forty-seven minutes after the compo submission hour ended!

I am also working on my first commercial game! The game is a creative plat-former where you replay the same level with over 50 cheat codes that do all sorts of wacky stuff to unlock! I am struggling to find play-testers so if you are interested in testing my game please email me here: "collinsludumdaregames@gmail.com" with the subject "bcqplaytesting" and in the email tell me what Gmail account you would like me to give access to the tester builds folder to! Thank you! I really do appreciate it!

Note:

Mac and Linux builds are untested! All versions of the game (Windows, Mac, and Linux) have a windowed version as well! Disclaimer: The source code files where uploaded seconds after submission hour for the compo ended! (All assets where made from scratch but you cannot have multiple authors on a compo submission, which is why this game was submitted to the Jam and not the Compo! EDIT: Disclaimer: New builds containing my logo at the beginning were upload a little over an hour and eight minutes after the submission hour for the compo ended! Nothing else has changed though, just wanted to let you know! Thank you!

Final Word:

Thank you for playing my game, again! I hope you enjoy my game! I am really happy with how this one turned out!

I got 133 seconds with 3 points on Level 1! Somehow got the neutron in a non-moving position right above the bottom proton, and jimmy had some kind of semi-stable orbit for a while :)

@phixnay Awesome! Yeah, that can happen sometimes, but it's kind of cool so I left it in! Good job and thanks for playing and trying out my game!

You HTML5 link is broken, I think.

Uh oh ! The HTML5 build is broken. Getting a 404. Also on macOS there's a huge bug — I mean huge literally. My mouse cursor occupies my ENTIRE 5k monitor. Unfortunately I couldn't play the game because of this, since I couldn't see anything! Turning on notifications for this in case it gets fixed. I'm a chemistry major so I'm very much interested in playing this :)

What a time to be alive - I can now play an arcade game about atomic particles! Cool concept.

Its a very fun idea for a game, however i seem to struggle to last more then 20 seconds on level 1, the concept is easy to grasp but i at least struggled to interact with the electron without knocking it into the nuetron. Maybe this makes me the stupid one and not Jonny. Good game all in all!

@binroot, thank you I appreciate it, I was going for that "arcady"/NES pinball style of gameplay!

Yes, HTML says error 404 with a link to the main page

@thor-lucas Thanks for your interest, I hope the HTML5 build is working but it may not be. I will try to find a solution to fix the Mac build but since I can't test it I'm not sure if I can fix it. If you want feel free to download the source code files and see if you can getting working on Mac! Thanks again for the interest. P.S. the game isn't exactly scientifically accurate but I guess that is the point, lol!

@Blondhie, @bjl, @thor-lucas Got the HTML5 build working, I'm new to itch.io (and building for HTML5) and didn't hit the publish button, whoops! LOL, it should be working now! Thanks for the interest in the game everyone!

I was able to get HTML working. Only negative feedback is that the sounds were a little harsh on my ears. But I like the idea of protecting a proton! I wish I could see my score after each round (maybe I can but was too click happy?) I had a good streak going but idk how many points I had accumulated because as soon as I lost I went to another round (probably an error on my part?)

Great job overall though! Glad you put it up on HTML, thanks for making it super accessible!

Other that having issues with the sound design this was a great entry! the end sequene didnt send me to the title screen so I dont remember my scores perfects but they were close to this

Level 2: 8 Points, 28.something Timer
Level 3: 11 Points, dont remember timer

The game play is original! getting a hand of how the ball conserves momentum was really fun, the rounds were consistent so I had to plan routes and make small adjustments to see if it would end better. The end animation was really nice too. I would reccomend turning the volume on the sound effects down.

Interesting concept, took a minute to wrap my head around it. I like the music, it really reminded me of some old school Commodore 64 games.

I just played he HTML5 version. Love the name. I like that you focused on doing one mechanic. I was a little confused on what makes Johnny move certain directions. I also didn't understand while playing it which direction the neutron was going to go when I clicked. The audio matched the theme a lot. I could see this becoming a mobile game that thrives on the simple mechanic. I kinda want to flick the neutron.

Whoaa this is an awesome idea, I'm really really bad at it, couldn't make it pass 20secs haha. Great game and a great concept!! Loved old school the art and sound, feels really cohesive. Great job!

@thor-lucas, @bjl, @blondhie Hello! I know you were interested in playing my game, and when I fixed the HTML5 build I believe message notifications were off due to high levels of site traffic so I thought I'd let you know the HTML5 build is fixed! Thanks again!

Interesting concept. Maybe though that the neutron keeping its momentum when you move it is a bit too strange. You have to keep your eyes on two things simultaneously.

Once I got the neutron to be almost completely still and the electron moved extremely slowly. I quit that game after 300 seconds. Apart from that, I think the first level was too hard. (Well, I should try my game, you might say! )

Interesting, kind of educational, but maybe a bit too fast paced. :D

Pretty neat game! I like that the momentum is conserved with the player's neutron, makes for interesting strategy. I found an 'equilibrium' similar to other reviewers in the first level, and I'm glad it's something you left in. I couldn't tell if it would ever get pulled into the proton. The music is very fitting as well!

Hi, the web version is working well. Maybe the velocity is too high for the first level, is hard to figure out how to not instant die in the first run. But challenging = fun.

Hi, I'm afraid I'm going to be mostly criticizing...

It was rather hard to understand, how exactly did Johhny and then neutron influence each other, which made me not really enjoy the gameplay much. I think the original idea is really great, but it definitely needs a bit of fine-tuning.

Furthermore - the audio. Though I support and like bit-based audio, the sounds in the game were rather unpleasant to listen to. A small change in the pitch might help, maybe?

One more thing, I guess I found a bug while writing this review. When I left the tab open, the game just kind of finished itself, without me doing anything? Like if I got into some kind of Godmode - Jimmy was jsut impervious to damage. :D I suppose the updates are not really happening in the order they are supposed to. Possibly pausing the game when player loses focus could help with this.

Don't get me wrong - I like the game, I just feel like it needs more work done.

I like the physics and bounciness of the characters, but I couldn't quite get a hang of how to play the game. I could keep it going for a little bit, but eventually I would just knock Johnny into lightspeed and lose. I think having a warmup area where the user can learn the controls would be a good addition to this game.

Interesting concept. I had some trouble finding how to get past level 1 though, not sure if it's just that I didn't manage to survive long enough? Maybe. The controls are rather intuitive. It could be useful to use more different colors for the elements on screen to more easily distinguish them when things are moving, but that's a small detail. (Small note: the sound effects are a bit aggressive.)
