LORE:
Long ago, in an age beyond remembrance, the gods walked the earth. Finding the land lonely, they set about populating it with plants and animals. To serve as wardens to their new creations, they molded mankind in their own image and blessed them with intelligence and immortality. Man diligently served the gods and tended to the land and the creatures, but, as the ages passed, mankind grew weary of their duty to the divine.
They banded together and plotted to overthrow their creators and take their place as the sole rulers of the world. The gods, enraged at man’s betrayal, traveled to the temple of Uros, buried deep within an ancient mountain. Here, the gods created a new being, Decay. Decay would slowly eat away at all living things, causing them to grow old, die, and rot away back to the primordial elements from which they were crafted. Yet from these elements, new life would emerge. So it was that the loop of life and death came into being.
Despite their efforts, mankind was powerless to stop their own demise. Fear gripped their hearts as they grew old and perished. Satisfied at their victory, but now ashamed at what they had done to the world, the gods fled the earth, returning to the heavens from which they came. Their departure meant mankind had indeed become the sole rulers of the world, but it was a cursed world.
Yet, mankind learned to cope with their new mortality and their offspring spread far across the land, each generation, replaced by a new one. For a time, things were good. But something terrible was lurking within the temple of Uros. Decay was growing too strong feeding off of the many lives of men. Soon, the land was withering away before its hunger. Some men tried to flee, while others pledged themselves in worship to this new deity. A few brave heroes even traveled to Uros in hopes of slaying Decay and breaking the loop of life and death, unaware of the curse they were about to cast upon themselves.

EDIT: I got confused between this and other game, dont worry all the ratings and my comment is based in yours
Really liked the artwork on that but I think you could add subtitles to better follow the plot and make it a bit shorter? Nevertheless a very cinematic beginning, I like that.
The gameplay itself was a bit strange because the boss didn't do musch and the "crowd" wasn't really challanging?
But the music was great also liked the artwork alot (especially the intro and towers on the hill).
One quick "bug" i found was a missing or wrong placed collider on the left to the temple / boss, I was able to go outside the map, see the image below.

Still I liked it, keep it up
@the-missing-bracket sfx are all recorded aswell, we just didn't have the time to implement them, but they're coming soon!
I will say that when I killed the boss and the screen changed it looked like another level. Reading the lore back just makes me confused as to what I was supposed to do. The lore was a bit too long for me as well, as i feel it should be spread out more rather then shoving all of it at the start.
TBH i would say that starting scene would make a great start for full game once its clear what is actually happening.
gameplay was not quite there (weird collisions, no impact feeling), but overall the game was interesting!
congratz!!
Overall, really great game!
As for the game ... fighting was weird, character was dashing too much forward through enemies and there was no feedback (except for enemies disappearing).
I enjoyed it though.
Keep up the good work!
For the game itself, it is fun but lacking some elements: a visual feedback on hit and on enemy death would be nice (instead of just them disappearing), the boss lacked pattern and his only one was quite obvious and increasing the difficulty of the level after each loop would have been better in my opinion (the best would be with more type of enemies but at least with a greater number of enemies at least). The second level also felt really similar to the first one with just less enemies.
On more positive note: the graphics are cool and the music is great, I liked the character dashing a lot through enemies giving some kind of "feeling of power". Overall a nice entry: I enjoyed playing it and would love to see the results if you continue working on it after the jam
Where is your god now? :stuck_out_tongue:
Great job guys!
I really tried to get out of the loop tho, killed 3 times 50 ennemies + the boss, tried to die, to find things, until I understood....the hero is stuck in a loop XD to put it in a nutshel : excellent intro + story + musics, fun gameplay, so good job !!

Thanks again for playing our game on stream :)
The gameplay reminded me of dynasty warriors, but without any of the fancy combos. I thought there were some mechanics that I just didn't get but after a few playthroughs I realized they were just glitches.
Some times I would just go to the spirit world for some reason without dying. Jumping is also totally broken. Any time I pressed space, my character would enter the jump animation and float upwards extremely slowly to the apex of the jump, and then come back down at the same speed. While locked into this animation, the enemies can just spam attacks on you and drain your health.
This was an ambitious game and you guys put a lot of work into it. Clearly the time constraints led to a very barebones and unfinished product like most LD games, but you did manage to lay the foundation for something really cool. If you decide to spend more time on it post jam and polish it up, I think you might be able to salvage a very solid game.
Hack n slash games are always fun but you would need to add a lot of missing parts like hit detection, more varied attack combos, specials, finishers, item drops, some sort of progression system, and a more detailed world/characters.
Great job creating such a unique experience
