Keep The Power Plant Alive by rich

[raw]
made by rich for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

First "completed" game. There are no sounds. Enemies spawn more frequently as time continues. There is a tutorial.

As far as building power poles: you press B and then left click on the power plant to start placing. You have to look at the ground to get the preview to show up.

Here is a link to a video where I talk about the game and shows the gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZrmUNikpfY

Hi! Interesting concept :) You've created a pretty large world in 48 hours :D

Couldn't quite figure out how the building worked? Liked the introduction and loved the honesty on things you ran out of time to include! Seems like a good, if you could explain better how building works, I'll give it another try :)

I tried to play it, but I could not build any Poles... what am I doing wrong?

I appreciate the time you have spent making tutorial for your game. Making a 3d game that has huge map is very difficult in 48 hours. Well done...

It's not bad, just a bit tough to understand how to build and connect power lines.

I think this kind of simulation/strategy game works waay better in 3rd person, and if you want to do it 1st person, you have to do a lot of fine-tuning to make sure the player sees and is aware of everything. Also, I placed down a bunch of pylons and then was stuck because I had no more resources.

@nnnikki thanks for the feedback! I agree with you but I haven't figured out animations yet. I guess I could have just left the capsule and made it 3rd person. I also should have made the starting resources higher.

Definitely an interesting concept. I have to agree with @nnnikki though, being in 1st person the game is a bit strange to work with.

Cool graphic, but it is not very intuitive ;/ after reading comment I figured how to buid a pole. I see a lot of potencial. Killing enemies made me fun, and also comment in the tutorial. Great you had it:) The map looks amazing for 2days time!

This was definitely a neat game! The ideas were really cool and I liked hooking up the power lines to the generators to get resources! I found that the beginning of the game forced you to hook up power lines to 3 generators of different types too quickly, but other than that this was a lot of fun. Great work!

I got very confused. I tried to understand it, but some things left me wondering. Also, the ESC to exit instantly is extrememly annoying for me. I think the concept is nice though

Wasn't sure about the controls. Seems like a neat idea. Not sure if enemies are needed in this kind of game.

@chaseplays, thanks for the feedback! I should have given the player more resources to start. Thanks for playing!

@thereal-infinite, no argument here. I forgot to hook up the esc functionality until I was under the deadline. I just wanted to make sure people were able to leave the game. Thanks for the feedback!

I think the resources showed wrong numbers sometimes? Or could be me, but it said i didnt have any when i clearly did. Anyways when i finally figured how to place poles it became kinda interesting, especielly with the constant pressure of "zombies" :) gj!

@m8rix I know that the resources weren't updating before you pick up any resources. After you picked up resources it should have updated. Thanks for the feedback and playing the game!

It feels like you had a really great game idea but ran out of time :(. I will say the tone of your tutorial messages were hilarious and you should keep that humor going into future projects! I still had fun shooting the enemies with the cannon except that there's a reticle in the middle making me think I'll shoot where I'm aiming but the shots just go straight forward and hit the ground after a few feet. But great idea! Would love to see a finished product if you ever find time

Fits the theme, was quite smooth.

Building was a bit confusing, but in the end I understood it.
