Order of The Phoenix by Arvuti

[raw]
made by Arvuti for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Wandering in the woods collecting wood. The kindhearted lumberjack stumbles upon an ancient temple. On its center of it a pure gold egg. Astonished by the sight the lumber jack hurries to nurture it. From within the egg comes a majestic phoenix baby. Keep the baby warm and fed until its strong enough to spread it own wings. And who know, you might be rewarded for your efforts.

I have to admit it looks extremely beautiful!!! The game seems slow, but the audio, the birds, the sound is great, the music at the beggining is also great!

Outstanding graphics and mood for a jam game, congratulations ! At first I didn't get well what I as supposed to do, but the pacing with relaxing music and ambient sounds do a lot for the game. Great job.

Great art and animation, but the code and game play was not good. It was so and had no clear goal. There was no jump so I got stuck in lots of areas and had to restart. The walk animation seems really unnatural.

This graphics are so wow that my laptop couldn't handle it too well :D (are those assets made during jam or coming from other project of your?)
Snake lacks some animations (on my frame rate he looked like flying stick :D)
I don't know If I reached end - when I brought snake (3rd or something like that) to phoenix game just gone to menu without telling me a thing

Glad you liked it :-). Yes, everything was created for the jam. Nothing was reused as far as the 3D assets go. The animations were a limitation for us cause we only had one person working on them but we are still extremely happy with the result.

Game was pretty good, i really liked the graphics and audio, but animations could be improved, also audio glitched, and 2 music tracks were playing simultaneously, game could also have a bit more juice, like particles and animations for dying animals, Gameplay was pretty cool, but aiming with crossbow felt clunky, also idk why but i see this problem in almost all unreal engine games, even if they aren't vr games, they open steam vr, it's probably just a unreal problem, not your fault, But overall it's a solid entry

Wow the game art is really good, and the mood and music are fantastic. While the animations could be better, the only thing that I thought was missing was a proper ending. It seemed a bit quick. However overall the game was really good, visually pleasing, and with a unique gameplay.

The music and art is awesome and cute. The stiff snake made me laugh so thanks for that. The shooting wasn't very intuitive but when I got used to it, it worked. Items disappeared when I pressed E so I lost my items many times for spamming the action key (I'm a bit trigger happy). The game looks really amazing for a jam game!

Visuals in the game are amazing, loved cute phoenix! Didn't really see the reason why can't you grab both crossbow and axe and carry it around since they are used on different keys anyway, same with not allowing to carry multiple items at once - it made me walk only to closest tree and animal spawn and not explore the area. Which I did before grabbing the egg - it's beautiful. :)

Damn, this is a BIG game download. But I mean, I can see from the screenshots that it looks nice, so I guess I can understand at least a bit where the size is coming from?

Alright, after downloading: My computer isn't fast enough to run this game properly. Pity.

Beautiful! Graphics, music, ambience, sound design, everything. I wished there was more gameplay, cause I didnt know what to do, just wander around chopping trees and didnt find anything to shoot with the crossbow. But damm, the game is gorgeous!

@lairinlair There's actually a bit more gameplay involved in the game, you got to put the logs into the fire to hatch the Phoenix, thus starting the game loop (Press E to put items into the fire). I'll be working on a 1.1 version to address some of these issues :)

a little bit unclear at the beggining what should i do in the game ... after while i figured it out ... i think its huge achievement to create such beutiful game in couple of days, with little bit of polishing it should be really great... i like the idea and mood in the game... good job!

Beautiful game. The bird especially beautiful. The core gameplay loop was fun and engaging. I'd love to see it developed further! :grinning:

I love the design, it's beautiful, well done. The music is relaxing, the sound effects are just on the righz places.
There is one frustrating thing, there is a constant noise when the phoenix burns, that is too loud, and it gets annoying after a few minutes, but this is the only problem with the whole thing in my opinion.
Great job guys

Challenging game. I included it in my Ludum Dare 46 compilation video series, if you want to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/a4mUfaMtGeE
