Paradox by Wahooney

[raw]
made by Wahooney for Ludum Dare 47 (JAM)

Escape the secret lab by creating and using tears, paradoxes, cataclysms and wormholes. You have one round in your pistol, so use it wisely over and over again as you kill your past selves, while helping your future self. Do whatever you need to do to escape.

Fourth-wall breaking stuff here

Created by myself in 72 hours in Unreal Engine. I was only able to make one level, but it's pretty tricky. There is a bug in the dialogue system, but I hope it's still helpful.

I've been debugging some performance issues, if it's running slow, just hit F11 and things should speed up dramatically.

An interesting prototype, I'd like to see where it develops! Quite a small level, but still enough space to demonstrate the concept. I think you could make some really neat puzzles with this system. There were a couple of places where you could get trapped, so I had to start again from the beginning, but enjoyed it overall.

The concept is very good. I like that you can kill your past selves which gives for a lot of liberty of gameplay. Would be cool to see some more levels in the future :)

Incredible work! The only bug i found is that you can shoot through the glass without breaking it.
Great graphics

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

@hjeldin: I noticed that after the final upload :scream: I want to continue this game so that will definitely be fixed

It's awesome! I didn't see any indication on what the different colors of portals did. But I managed to understand how it works I think. Blue makes a clone of yourself respawn, yellow doesn't and red deletes all your clones. The graphics are nice, the mechanics too and it offers great possiblities! Good job! 5/5

Thanks @elbbard  You're absolutely right, internally those are Tears, Paradoxes, and Cataclysms. The black one is the wormhole. I couldn't fix that bug in my dialogue system in time so my on-boarding efforts kinda died :slight_frown:

It was really good. As you posted on my game, they are indeed similar, yet very different. It was little too short, but it has great potential and I would love to see more of it !

The sound effects and visuals were really good, too bad there was no music !

Very good entry, hope you keep working on it!

The time loop interpretation of the theme was very expected and I was skeptical in advance, but this one was very good, really nice graphics and sounds too :)

Good work, very nice little game. And of course I wish there were more levels, hope you'll be working on that in the future :)

I like the copy concept you have here. It reminded me of a game from Dreams. That's not a bad thing. Thank goodness you had a reset feature because I did get locked in a a couple of times. It fit the theme well too. All around a nice game!

I loved your game! It was a very interesting concept and I found it interesting how you made it a necessary task to kill yourself in the past! Nice art and sound btw.

Wow. Incredible work. It took me a while to figure out what I have to do but it was worth it. I'd buy this if it were a full game.

I would liked a little ambient audio track in the background but other than that I have no other complaints.. This is a solid game and a hella fun mechanic.. If you have time I would like you to try out my team's game.. I think you'll find it very similar. (Mechanic-wise, but it's own little twist.) Good Luck in the jam, friend!

Awesome. Best I have played so far. Apart from a few minor glitches everything went smoothly.
I implemented a *very* similar idea but your execution is way better. Kudos!

Very well done! Clean artstyle fitting audio and with a background music this would be perfect. Would have loved some levels but i understand that these need time to make in games like this. Overall one of the best entries so far good job!
